At this point, I no longer feel it correct to compare No Man's Sky to its state at launch. It has transformed and become an entirely new experience, doubling down on all of its missed promises and delivering them and more with an undying love and passion for the game. I still adore this game, even though I do not play it much anymore. It's always a fun and cozy time, and with the (much-needed) space battle overhaul, navigating space is a change of pace from the ground combat and excavation and construction. Simply put: I love this game.

As someone coming from the original Dissidia and Dissidia 012 [duodecim], I can't in good faith recommend this game even after only 1.6 hours clocked in. There are two reasons for this:

The first and most important reason is the fundamental gameplay change that is battles are now 3v3 as opposed to 1v1. The original Dissidia and 012 were already hectic enough, and adding extra combatants to each fight makes trying to analyze what's going on rather difficult.

The second reason is the barebones attack system -- again as opposed to Dissidia and 012, characters now only have a single HP attack for each battle instead of three (EDIT: it's actually six!). This makes trying to hit with certain attacks - such as Y'shtola's Scion Holy - more than troublesome.

The rotating character roster for players of the Free Edition (such as myself) naturally doesn't help either, and the rather drastic reduction of stages from 35 to 17, one per game, is also unsurprisingly disappointing.

Controller play feels wonderful, with button presses easily chainable into one another, and the chat system being fully voiced means you get to yell at your teammates with the voices of your favorite characters, which can make for entertaining back-and-forths; but ultimately, the lack of proper 1v1 gameplay support aside from turning off extra slots in local games means that I simply can't enjoy this.

Oh, also EX Mode is gone. I'm salty about that.

Sadly too ambitious for its own good, but nevertheless fun to play; even if resource gathering can be a little tedious. Shame to see it go...

Copy Kitty is a platforming action game with a somewhat simple, it very deeply-used mechanic:
Defeating enemies allows you to collect their power for yourself and then use it. Killing one enemy may grant you access to Wave, for example. If you then kill a second enemy that has Quick, these two weapons combine into a different unique attack when you press the Combined Shot button. And collecting a third weapon, say Lightning, provides an even different combo!

Like this, you hack, slash, shoot, bomb, galestorm, burn, freeze and what-have-you your way through an entire storyline, followed by Hard mode (which is a story continuation), an extra world, a different character with another storyline, a Hard mode for THAT character (which is a story continutation as well), a marathon mode, an Endless mode with 10 different paths, and custom levels with Workshop support.

Along the way you'll find and learn enemies, database entries for them and the richly-detailed world, powers, attacks, combinations, knowledge and skill.

Achievements you unlock go towards unlocking a myriad of gamechanging Modifiers such as certain starting loadouts, playing as even different characters, graphical and audio changes; or if you wish to treat your eyes, towards the Art Gallery where you can unlock several promotional and fan artwork.

Did I mention this thing was made by two people? Yeah. TWO PEOPLE. Over the course of SEVEN YEARS.

There's a lot of content to be seen here folks, and if you want to play as a cat and blow stuff up at the same time, this game is perfect.

EDIT: Whoops I forgot to mention the music. This game has easily some 50-ish tracks, and each track in the game has two seperate "layers" - one of which is the low HP warning layer, which plays when you, well, have low health and is synced to the rhythm of the track you're currently hearing (which is the best way to handle this). The other is called "Shadow Metal" and, to avoid spoilers, I'd rather not mention when that plays.

Also all the music track names are fruit alliterations. So, yeah. Even better.

Meow!

Night in the Woods... how do I start...

Well, it's a game about a college dropout returning to her hometown, Possum Springs, only to find out that everything's moved on while she remained in the same spot.

It's also a game about the exact opposite of that, Possum Springs being stuck in the past while Mae has found herself further ahead.

This game is definitely an emotional rollercoaster. It's not something you should take lightly.
At the end of everything, hold onto anything.

Shovel Knight.
Initially, there was a single campaign, now named Shovel of Hope.
Then came Plague of Shadows, allowing you to play an alternate story from the viewpoint of one of the game's bosses, with completely rewritten story, dialogue, and even some entirely new stage segments alongside the game poking fun at itself (the powerful Relics you'd find as Shovel Knight? Useless trinkets you trade away to the very merchant you buy these from in Shovel of Hope.)
Then came Specter of Torment, upgrading all owners of Shovel Knight to Treasure Trove including all three campaigns, local co-op, and - which I believe is a nice touch, as the lack of female combatants in the Order of No Quarter personally somewhat bugged me - a gender swapping mod, allowing you to pick a gender for each character.
Female Shovel Knight except that everyone assumes (and talk to her as if) she is male because of that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ helmet you never see come off? Sure. Body: Female, Text: Male. Done.
And now we're getting yet another campaign for King Knight, co-op for the other campaigns, a four-player battle mode - all for free!

And those who don't have it can buy Treasure Trove for 23 bucks. I mean come on, think of mainstream games like Call of Duty or something - 60, 70, 80 bucks for maybe 10 hours of gameplay?

I don't see why Yacht Club Games wouldn't be one of my favorite developers out there.

Strangest waste of my money I've ever had.

Sure, the idea of the game is fun. The game itself is fun too (if you look past the fact that middle click is used to drop items, and left click is used for only ONE out of hell, I dunno, 13 or so items). But it gets too frustrating too fast due to awkward physics boundaries leading to items getting permanently stuck out of your reach, the fact that the GDMN phone won't stop ringing, and you can for some reason only bend your arms just far enough past your torso to be able to hug yourself.

With one arm.
Because unless you're holding the constantly-ringing phone, switching hands will automatically lower your other arm. You were hoping to smoke The Pipe and threaten The Button at once? Fat chance.

...please, fix these, and I might just give the game another try.

It's fun early on, where the puzzles are of acceptable complexity and length, but as soon as you reach Resource Site 265.81: Small Excavator, the difficulty curve rams through the roof at an exact 90° angle.

To make matters worse, you have to complete either that OR Cargo Uplifter, which is even more complicated, in order to actually progress and unlock the remainder of the game.
It simply gets frustrating to a point where I've reset my entire solution multiple times in a fit of rage even though I was as close as I could get to clearing the puzzle.

MAJOR EDIT: Through the help of a friend of mine, I managed to clear Small Excavator, and all I can say is the later levels are by far not as difficult as that and Cargo Uplifter.
In fact, I've managed to clear some of the later levels with a footprint of 37 within 200 cycles.
What the hell, Zachtronics!?

Aside from these two particular levels, the game is very fun. Just make sure you have a friend to talk to while you play it, otherwise it gets frustrating.

OneShot is a beautiful, terrible monster of a video game.

First things first: If you get paranoid easily, this game isn't for you. It can manipulate itself and your computer in (non-harmful) ways that are very rare to see in video games.
Not even Undertale goes this far with its mind♥♥♥♥ery.

Originally made in RPG Maker 2003 for a game competition, the game employed several mechanics that are in this version of the game as well; with some missing, some changed, and with some more... drastic measures of trial-and-error.

Nonetheless, this - not just engine-wise - upgrade brings us more story, more colorful characters, and so much more information on Niko themselves, who holds the title of Cutest Video Game Protagonist Ever, even topping Ori.

Its main gameplay mechanic is stated several times over: You only have one shot. The game does not kid when it says this, as ending the game by completing it causes a permanent ending in a rather satisfying - or dramatic - fashion based on your choices. Recovery from this is impossible.

The very nature of some of this game's puzzles has me searching through my hard drive for hours and hours on end, just to find a postcard dropped by Niko... I'm still doing it.

The soundtrack itself has also received an upgrade, with more, and partially remade, tracks. The main theme, My Burden Is Light, has to be one of the most amazing things I've heard in my lifetime.

Finally, Niko. Niko is one of the sweetest, kindest, and cutest catpeoplethings I have ever seen, and I want to hug them. Over the course of OneShot, you will learn to know Niko, you will learn to understand Niko, and you will also learn to "hate" Niko for how damn adorable and lovable they are. If any of you bastards wasn't nice to Niko I will bite you, kthx.

...
...wait, why did I...say that word...
...why does that sound so familiar?

Moon Studios say they want to make games that they themselves would love to play. And Ori and the Blind Forest is their first such project, and a masterpiece. Not only is Gareth Coker a genius composer, but the live orchestra that performed the soundtrack has to be one of the most renowned in the world. Add to this the stunning graphics with several beautiful effects, a wonderfully-told story, and some of the least frustrating but most challenging platforming gameplay, and you have this.

Also Bash.
Bash is the best ability in any video game ever.
