The puzzle aspect of the game was decently fun and challenging. However, the final segment shifts to a dexterity-based survival challenge that has no cohesion with prior puzzles. I think the game tried to have a moral about life being hard but you can still enjoy it, but I don't feel that lands when the pacing of the game breaks apart and the final boss is more frustrating than fun.

On a positive side, the music is nice and the art style is very charming, but the memey sexual innuendo humor and narrative are a hit-or-miss. The game is free so it wouldn't hurt to try, but if you're not a fan of fan service humor and a rage-bait twist you aren't prepared for, I'd suggest skipping.

Tl;dr while the puzzle gameplay was fun, it was brought down for me by a sudden shift in the gameplay at the end and a narrative driven by fan service and sex humor.

This game is phenomenal and is genuinely up there with some of my all-time favorites. You can easily knock the game out in 2-4 hours by yourself or with a pal. However, the extra tasks you get after beating the game and the speedrun achievements for each level are the real highlights of the game. Even if you're not super into speedrunning, I promise you its a real fun time here.

I've enjoyed this game for years on the Nintendo Switch, notably with friends and family in couch co-op, but man playing it with achievements enabled really helps the game feel all the more triumphant.

A superb and hilarious puzzle experience you can knock out in an afternoon. As you triumph through kid's menu-esque puzzles, fauxlosophic dialogue, and some honestly clever japes, trust me when I say that the punchline at the end of the game is whole-heartedly worth the two hours of your time.

Years ago, I played this game on the Nintendo Switch several times but never progressed much beyond the initial ending with each run. From there, I regarded it as one of my favorite games of all time, but I’ve always wanted to fully complete the game’s content and achievements to appreciate everything there is to offer. After snagging the game again as a final hoorah for my college winter break, I can confidently say that Hollow Knight has solidified itself as one of the best, if not the best, Metriodvania in my mind.

Every aspect of the game is exceptionally polished. The combat and platforming are crisp and smooth, and the game takes full advantage of its open world. The wonderful soundtrack composed by Christopher Larkin is utterly angelic, and the characters and bestiary embody a rich variety of whimsy, tragedy, horror, and beauty. The artistry is truly the highlight of the game - whether within art direction or game design. Please please please, if you have the time, I highly encourage you to explore and appreciate as much of this game's world as you can.

Thank you, Team Cherry!
