Tons of creative puzzles, lots of rooms, excellent long-term support with reasonably priced paid but also free official DLCs plus community levels galore. Can't think of anything to complain about.

As a fan of What's the Golf I gotta say that this one is pretty great too, though different in a couple of ways. You really shouldn't expect WtG? but with cars. It's less focused on jokes and more on actual gameplay with longer levels, most are still easy but some not so much. Yet of course there's still absurdist humour aplenty.

While 100%ing Golf was a cakewalk and I had little reason to come back, Car on the other hand has fewer but longer and slightly more challenging levels. Also you play them one by one and not as a quick series like in Golf. Some of the hard (skull) stages actually took me a bunch of tries and I haven't even seen the later ones. If you want to get the crowns (time) and cards (secret) some levels will make you actually work for them and require experimentation and creative thinking. Though don't get me wrong, the game isn't HARRRD hard, just more involved than Golf, imo it's well balanced.

Now a negative review complained about a lack of variety but I feel there are enough new gimmicks, clever level designs, 'special' stages, secrets and challenges to keep things fresh. Actually, the further I get, the more fun I'm having while with Golf it was the opposite tbh. And again, Car has more reasons to dig into a level again and again.

Plus you can design your own and obviously play stages from other players. Conveniently the devs have even chosen a few highlights and put them directly onto the maps.

Still, there are a few issues, I don't mind traversing the world maps but as far as I can tell there's no way to jump directly to a level you already played. Which ist annoying if it's one of those skull levels which take a while to even get to on the maps. And the whole structure is overall more confusing than in Golf. Also I've noticed a few small bugs and the performance can be weirdly inconsistent. Though the dev(s) already released a patch, good to see.

Anyway, after a few hours I would've said that while Golf was a 9/10 this is more like a 7.5/10. But now? 8 bordering on 8.5 easily. I just hope there aren't some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ levels waiting for me**, will edit this review if that's the case.

Also Car costs about half as much as Golf and they keep adding more levels/events. So even if you end up not liking it as much as the first one it's most definitely a good game with lots of content to chew on.

**Got all achievements now and there were a handful of level that took me more tries than I'll ever admit but all of them were optional afair.

Obviously not the most complicated game, you turn, shrink and slide pieces of objects and that's it. Even the most complicated puzzles aren't hard or annoyingly confusing, it's more about fiddling around than thinking of creative solutions and eventually you'll get the hang of it. Didn't get boring for me though, took ~6hrs to get 100% achievements and complete everything. I only ever got a tad annoyed when the game occasionally acted somewhat finnicky about small gaps. A slightly bigger tolerance would've been nice but it didn't happen often.

The visuals are pleasing but nothing too original, I wish they'd done more with the backgrounds, for example integrate all the objects you finished into the background so it gets slowly filled. Just an idea but you only spend about 10 minutes in one level anyway.

Another reviewer complained about the controls but if you understand that after grabbing a piece all you can/should do is move the mouse to the left or right it works perfectly fine. Up and down is only used when rotating the whole object.

So overall easily worth the low price, just don't expect challenging puzzles or a story.

One hour of weirdness. No puzzles, just clicking. Perfectly fine for the asking price (0€).

A couple of hours in this would've been an easy recommendation and it's not an outright bad game, which leaves me somewhat torn about posting a negative review. But after completing the last third.... sorry, some of the puzzles really rubbed me the wrong way.

Everything starts well enough, simple but cute visuals, confined locations, you click along, solve reasonably logical puzzles that build on each other, all very relaxing with some brain-teasing and hints toward a bigger story. But eventually I came across some rather obtuse and increasingly farfetched puzzles that neither make sense in the context of the world nor are there enough, or any, hints. Some are visually very confusing to boot (wine bottles…) and I found it harder and harder to follow the game's logic. To make matters worse locations become so big with so many options that it's easy to get lost with no idea what to do next, what are clues and to which puzzles they belong.

Add to that a severe lack of variety, I must've opened hundreds of locks or hacked into dozens of computers with all kinds of different symbols. Sure, the ways to get the combinations vary but in the end It's either that or turning some knobs and every new location is filled to the brim with locked objects. Becomes samey and boring when you realize that unlocking stuff will just lead to more stuff to unlock and that the hints/solutions are becoming less and less logically connected. Would've been fine if the game was 8 hrs long, but 15? Tedious.

Also can't say that I found the story to be very enganging, mostly because there aren't any people to talk to and the main character's comments are neither helpful nor charming and the writing in general is bland. Even when weird stuff starts happening he acts very uninterested and eventually you get a sudden, big infodump that leaves you with more questions than answers.

So in retrospect the game should've been shorter, have more in-game hints, some puzzles needed a redesign to make them clearer and there isn't nearly enough variety for how long this goes on. Maybe if you REALLY like unlocking locks this is for you, but I openly admit to regularly resorting to the official walkthrough on YT during the last chapters because the game became such a slog. Just wanted to be done. Too bad.

So nice, so relaxing and charming, a few easy puzzles here and there and lots of quests from the inhabitant which will give you plenty of backstory about the world. Don't expect deep gameplay or an RPG, it's a walking sim for sure but with enough content to last easily more than 10hrs. And Eastshade really is as beautiful as all the gorgeous screenshots suggest.

Nope.

This wannabe nostalgia trip plays so much worse than the Burnout crashmodes, controls and driving physics are weird and not reliable enough for the high speeds the game wants you to drive, so you crash too easily on the way to the crash sites because of that, unfair traffic patterns and overly sensitive collision detection. Replayability should be the main focus but many of the intersections are just boring with only a few cars (where's the complete chaos and madness of the Burnouts?) and the run-ups are seemingly endless and annoying so replaying the levels over and over again is a drag. I want to spend my time crashing, not driving to the crashing, realizing I missed everything because of almost no cars in the crash zone and starting over again.

Other issues: Usually you can plow through normal cars when hitting them from behind. Sometimes you crash. When and why? No idea. Also sometimes you crash when hitting busses or trucks from the side, other times not. 50/50 chance. Only two camera modes, both are too low and don't give a good overview of what's coming, plus the camera can only be moved horizontally during crashes and not at all while driving. The old Burnouts made it easy to see incoming traffic, here everything's grey, white, brown, black. Also you can see cars pop into existence. Sometimes (admittedly rarely) a few meters in front of you. Just great. The timer, you crash, want to watch the carnage, cars are still coming, but suddenly 5... 4... 3... 2... 1... blue balls. Car deformation, not a lot going on beyond some scratches and dents, they stay mostly intact. Lazy and boring. The pick up radius of the bonus icons is too small, making them bigger and/or the car sliding a little further after triggering an explosion would've avoided many frustrating moments.

Then we get to the presentation which is equally crappy. Graphics would've been subpar in 2010, visual effects are bad, no music, sound effects without any punch, bland, hard to parse menus (a few icons would've helped immensely, all we get is white text). Football Manager has more style and verve, zzzzZZZZZzzZZ. Seriously, I think the sounddesign is the biggest problem, a game like this should be LOUD but it's so quaint and silent when other indies have insanely awesome soundtracks, here the main menu works as ASMR instead of hyping the player up.

Now some will say 'it's cheap and they only had a limited budget' to which I reply 'others can do it too, this lacks heart and soul more than money', compare DZ to GRIP or Redout to see where I'm coming from. I really enjoyed Dangerous Golf more than most people and had high hopes but Three Fields didn't evolve, quite the opposite, this is such a joyless, dull experience. A complete and utter failure which at every opportunity fights against the player having fun, I honestly can not come up with something, anything good to say.
