Great game for if you have a baby.

We wanted something like Divinity that we can walk away from at any given moment, or where our 9mo can be held whilst playing, that is co-op. This fit perfectly into our life, was fun, pulled on your morality strings and honestly if Fallout had gone back to its roots and gone in this direction, I don't think it would be as much of a meme as it is now.

Such a great game, baby loved watching it and getting cuddles, and perfect for new parents.

Pro tip:
Turn off 'double tap to roll' in the menu. I don't know why this is an option and then why it's defaulted to on -.-. But I'm glad its an option, as it was driving me crazy!

-

The result of when developers actually listen to feedback - this is an example of a very well thought out sequel and how to do it. Other devs should take note.

I however do recommend playing Zero Dawn first, if only to truly appreciate the improvements they've made on an already good game (as well as to understand the story).

Games it's like:
Movement of Assassins Creed
Puzzles like Tomb Raider
Cinematics of Uncharted
Story/stories and world like Witcher

If that doesn't sell you then I don't know what will..

Comparative pros to ZD:
Gone is the out of place, immersion breaking lootbox reward system. Now they at least feel more part of the game and quest rewards are static and as a result more rewarding.

More rewarding quests, not just random chance, or as above, barely rewarding lootboxes.

Side quests are much more fleshed out, you can actually get lost in them, they've definitely taken some inspiration from Witcher here for example.

World feels much more alive. I saw a video of developers flexing a new 'crowd' system and, it very much shows. Towns feel much more fleshed out.

Less HUD. I found ZD, although good, had so much going on on the screen that didn't need it, such-as XP taking a whole corner etc. Forbidden West does away with all of that to further immersion and compliment, maybe even flex how good looking their game is. Less icons everywhere too, they rely on subtle visual cues to recognise plants that can be picked up, and again it adds to the immersion and is less hand holding.

Obvious graphic enhancements. The world is beautiful and even more varied, and reflective of the existence of the old world. Honestly, one of the best looking games released in the past few years.

Leads me on to optimisation. ZD, although great looking, did have it's performance issues.. FW however, has released in one of the most stable states I've seen lately. I have 35+ hours and no noticeable frame drops (i9 9900k, 2080ti)

This one is preference, but I found the music for the map menu in ZD an odd choice, and it got irritating fast. They listened and fixed this, there's no map music now and I'm not sad about it.

Free flowing climbing. They fixed the issue of being stuck and feeling frustrated bc Aloy won't climb/grab a ledge that looks climb-able, or having to jank your way out of a river. Now think assassins creed style with a touch of ZD but minus the frustrations.

Inventory management highly improved thanks to the stash. Love the stash, thank u.

Upgrading skills feels more like an upgrade than it did in ZD. I don't want to spoil but you're not locked behind silly things like 'carrying more resources thanks to a skill' anymore.

Puzzles, not too hard but a little harder and definitely more varied than, as well as more plentiful than ZD. Especially with relic buildings.

AI has been noticeably improved, I understand the balance between realism and fun, but FW gets it right.

Much more cinematic, enhanced animations/mocap and improved voice acting. Think Uncharted and think Uncharted 2 to Uncharted 4 in terms of the scale of improvement. Ashly Burch also does a great job as Aloy.

Cons:
Can be a little over bearing with all the different ways of approaching combat. Lots of skills to remember. I rarely used my specials as a result but not really needed.

Aloy does talk a lot, can be seen as hand holdy but I personally didn't mind it. It was sometimes useful and/or reflective of my own thoughts. And I've heard worse. But I've seen people also complain about this and its not without reason.

And this one isn't even a con as such, just preference. They could have taken the game a step further by copying Witcher even further and hiding armour sets around the world. That would have been cool.

I wish we lived in a world where there were more games like this and TOEM. I cannot recommend this enough.

Beautiful story with surprisingly good story telling for what is generally minified as a 'take pictures of birds' game. My only gripe is that there's not more, which is a good gripe to have. It's wholesome, heart wrenching and gets a message across, it makes you feel good and is riddled with plot twists and loveable characters. I enjoyed it myself but will 100% be getting my daughter to play this too.

Early Access Review
In my opinion, does not deserve the review bombing that its getting due to the release of Palworld.

People don't seem to understand that the dev team is split and that they are proving that this won't be abandoned. Its also very clear what they are going for. Palworld is Pokemon Arceus, this is BOTW complete with challenge shrines/korok seed challenges, puzzle caves and towers that you unlock through crafting to fast travel from. Palworld is also much more early access than this. This has much more content, less dead map, and overall a bit more to it. You also have robots that basically do the animals job. The game is also relatively relaxing whilst allowing for semi complex, logic based automation with conveyor belts and/or mass farming, which, I'm a sucker for actual automation and conveyor belts.

It's admittedly a little clunkier than PW from what I've seen but it's not a huge fallback. World feels well crafted, there are caves, puzzles, a huge array of animals, bosses, vehicles, weapons, armour and I enjoy the aspect of 'recreating earth', eventually finding villages that have electricity etc, very cool. And eventually the supposed ability to tame a literal God, though I personally haven't done this yet, just heard through the grapevine.

Overall, the success of PW makes me hope that this gives them even more resources to make both games great in their own unique ways. I've seen a vast improvement to Craftopia over the years and I'm very much enjoying where its at at the moment. One thing people are also missing is that PW wasn't developed over night, they have proven they are capable on working on both projects by working on both projects in tandem. It also has a very public, promising roadmap that I suggest checking out if you are concerned and the updates are generally plentiful and overall fun.

One of those games that is hard to guage from trailers/screenshots/the store. But ridiculously good. Trust the mass positive reviews.

Very much a 'one more run' kind game, if you like replay value then this is big yes. Soundtrack, so much big yes. Just absolute fun and mayhem. Riddled with secrets. Almost feels like the aim of the game is to borderline break it with the vast array of items and builds.

When you're not playing it, you'll find yourself watching youtube videos of wacky runs and/or thinking about what you want to do/unlock next. I also appreciate a game that trusts itself enough to thrust a player straight into it and expecting them to have fun whilst figuring the game out. Normally the 'thrusting a player into a game' comes at the sacrifice of fun but that is not the case for RoR2.

Pro-tip, download R2Modman and get BetterUI and ItemStats. Both feel like a must for the game, will stop you needing to wiki ever few seconds and so worth it.

This is what Back 4 Blood or L4D3 should have been.

Best puzzle game released in years
Not come across a single bug
Very good price - puts other devs to shame
Sequel just as good, if not better than the first game
Dev claims this is double length of the first game
Well optimised compared to any other new release
Newly introduced mechanics/puzzles
New world to explore
Great soundtrack
Responsive, passionate devs

If you love Talos 1 it's a no brainer
If you love puzzle games it's a no brainer

Just buy/play it.

Firstly, I paid £28 for it. I didn't pay full price. If I had paid full price, I'd have felt ripped off. But with how it is, I do not and I am thoroughly enjoying my playthrough.

I went into it thinking I'd face the same issues as everyone else, ie; 'the main menu is 11fps'. At this current point, I have played up until 70k population, and my frames have sat, sometimes over 100fps, most of the time, over 70fps, in rain, snow etc. I have an i9 9900k, 2080ti. I've had two crashes, which, with auto-save on, and after 35 hours, I'm not sad about.

I feel like the criticisms regarding performance are in part, a meme, because CO came out before release stating that it isn't performing up to their standard benchmarking spec. As well as, yes, day one day one, there probably were issues. But these were quickly patched and I haven't faced ANY of the performance issues, apart from placing big buildings, ie the international airport, but that was so nothingy, and once I'd placed it, it was all back to normal.

There are bugs. Bugs with shops needing customers, bugs with exporting, bugs with how people join your city (people running onto the train tracks is a fun time), bugs with the radio (hearing the same two ads over and over again is a bit mind numbing, hearing "Frank Reynolds" steal someones shoes was fun once, but on repeat is a bit irritating) - but these have been noted by CO and are being worked on, so if this would truly bother you (at full price, it should), then definitely hold off. However if you pick it up on a discount, then it can be overlooked. I personally very much look forwards to replaying this in a year or so, once it has been ironed out. Apart from the bugs, functionality wise, I have seen noticeable, more fun improvements. One my boyfriend enjoys, that prompted him to buy the game too is how power works, it's much more in depth, as well as the ability to export the excess. I've personally been enjoying the refined public transport, mixed with importing and exporting goods (even if that is a bit bugged, it still helps with tax etc and has potential to help with monies). A small gripe is that the game at night time is quite dark.. But once your city has grown, this stops being as annoying. Plus you can just toggle off day and night cycle (there is also no brightness setting.. Which, for all the settings there are, this isn't a thing guys? And yes I know the hardcore fans are going to come in and say 'hurr durr change ur monitor settings' but, I shouldn't have to do that.. And I don't fancy getting my eyes blasted every time I alt tab or quit out of the game).

Overall, I'd say wait for sale or buy it cheap and/or even wait for it to be refined, but if you love city builders, this will be addictive regardless. And I personally haven't struggled with performance issues, but that's just me. I'll post a screenshot of my graphics settings in the morning and update this review then.

Things I wish it had:
- brightness slider
- undo/redo
- ability to place paths across pre built roundabouts
- more diverse voicelines in the radio
- stairs for pedestrian paths
- ability to influence lanes (like traffic manager mod for cs1 but, in the game)
- actual functional placements of traffic lights/pedestrian crossings, instead of charging you for it to just disappear
- buildings will charge full price to place, but then half the price refunded to remove even if the game hasn't been unpaused
- parks are lifeless.. except homeless people
- allow parks to be built at the end of paths
- more industrial zoning, such as, ability to build non polluting business parks pls
- bikes
- more policies. Charging more for street parking appears bugged which is good bc more money, but you can't force people to stop doing it
- donut van pls
- I wanted to test some stuff out with all money/unlocks but I couldn't buy every tile, so can't make outside connections. This one genuinely made me just alt f4 :/ also making me debate changing review from positive to negative. I wish there was a neutral bc it's still not a bad game. Its just a bit disheartening.

Things I enjoy
- power is cool
- exporting resources
- 12 zoning types :O
- more in depth travel system
- the progress milestones/skill tree make it more rewarding
- double water pipes is cool
- mining for resources/farming etc, very cool
- pretty night time skies and sunrises
- traffic buildup is in bursts and/or honestly makes the game that little more playable

If you liked the first one, then this is a no brainer.

Would also like to add, it's so rare for me to play a game for 8 hours straight, on release date, with 0 bugs. Not even one. Bravo Game Kitchen.

If you like Cat Goes Fishing, you'll love this.

I don't want to spoil too much but definite yes. And if you're trying to make a choice, get this over Dredge.

Much more mechanics, gameplay loop like an acid trip, good music, constantly unlocking cool things - ik it released a month ago, but pls can we get a dlc thank youuu.
