This game is brilliant.

I personally love puzzle games and am always looking for something new. Often, I will find intriguing games, but the process of which the solution is the same just a different iteration of a slightly different puzzle, or question if you will, with a similar answer and therefore becomes repetitive or extremely difficult and unentertaining. This game is unlike that.

This puzzle game is first-person, not unlike Portal, where you find yourself with a gun that can limit or expand your capabilities, but the map itself is what makes this game so worthwhile. This physics engine makes you break physics. Sometimes the answers are obvious and sometimes the question requires a different perspective entirely. The question is never the same and the answer is baffling almost every time.

Overall, very well put together game, my only qualm is that it's not controller compatible, but in the developers defense, this is a PC game.

This game is by far one of the most difficult games I have ever played. I got through only half of an area when I first bought it and let it sit for half a year before I picked it back up again.

I initially heard about this game through twitter. I had seen a few gifs of gameplay and such and I was interested in the aesthetic. For me, being drawn into the game because of its beauty, the difficulty was very hard to get over when I first started to play. After letting it sit for so long I hesitantly picked it back up again, but going in determined to see it to the end. I really didn't want to spoil the beauty that had called me into this game by letting the difficulty keep me from reaching the end of the game. I HAD TO KNOW HOW IT ENDED!!!

If you are okay with story purely based on SNES communication (even without text, all images), the story is phenomenal. I had to look into the game before I picked it up again and discovered that it was a huge expression of Alex's heart problems that he felt he couldn't express through art and film. So when I reached the end of the game, there was such a settling in myself. I felt at peace that it was over. I had reached the end of a very beautiful story portrayed in a very difficult game.

I must say that Hyper Light Drifter is one of my favorite games of all time due to aesthetic, musical composition, gameplay mechanics that make sense, and a story about the heart.
