If I could give this game something other than a thumbs up or a thumbs down, I would, so I'll just give it a thumbs down because while it's not bad, it's not good either. It's just... mid.

The writing is extremely cringe at times. Early in the game, Ivy rickrolls you, and you find Dismas and Raynauld (from Darkest Dungeon) in the tavern. Thankfully as the game goes on, the memes and references go away, but it's not a good first impression.

Combat sex is... weird. One moment you're fighting a tiger, and the next you're boning a kemonomimi tiger girl. It's not explained until much later in the game when you use the sex spell on an ancient armor.

The art is phenonenal... most of the time. As you get deeper into the game, the non sex scenes start to look like someone's bad attempts at MS PAINT. I'm looking at you, scene where Ivy binds Scarett with magic.

Some scenes play out of order, such as when Eri mentions she saw me and the Duchess having sex, but I had never gotten to that point before.

There's never any variation in the sex with characters. It always starts with oral, then moves on to boob jobs, then regular sex, and finally butt stuff. This game is as vanilla as it comes. There are many references to breeding and risky sex, but as of this writing there's no payoff. There's no female protagonists and no dudes to romance. The only unusual sex is with the demoness you free early in the game.

Some scenes repeat when you don't want them to, such as when you enter the bauble shop in the morning and get a sex scene between the shopkeeper and the tavern maid when all you really wanted to do was buy something.

There's no fast forward button, so you're left endlessly clicking through a scene you've seen before just to exit. Esc key is used to exit the game instead of exit out of a menu, which is boneheaded. If you're playing this game at work you've got more problems than needing a quick exit function.

All in all, it's just a very mid point-and-click game with pixel art and mostly annoying minigames. In its current state, I wouldn't buy it for the full 20 bucks they are asking.

The new Wandering lifestyle honestly feels pretty bad and underdeveloped, especially compared to all the perks you get as a landless in the other lifestyles. There is absolutely zero point in investing in the Wandering tree compared to something like Martial or Stewardship. Even Learning allows you to get enough piety to reform a religion with Proselytize To Locals and the perk that gives you piety for walking over a church province. Wanderer gives you... the ability to hike? There's just nothing that is an absolute "must pick" here.

Considering that Paradox made being landless as terrible as possible (you can't even marry off children to anyone other than your followers), especially with the latest patch with heavy-handed nerfs to the MaA caps, there's little point in being landless except as a temporary thing to create an offshoot religion or such.

It's a good idle game. The combat is surprisingly deep for what it is. The only downside is that it's poorly translated, so you have things like "Beauty Camel" or the descriptions of most actions read like a bad manga.

Imagine Slay The Spire, but without any input at all during the combat. That is basically what Luck Be A Landlord is: a mindless slot machine where you just push a button. Sure, you can get perks and items between rounds, but the core gameplay is still literally just pressing a button and waiting.

Bland, uninteresting, blatant mobile port. Dev was even too lazy to change the word "tap" to "click"

As much as I tried giving it a fair shake, I just couldn't get into this. The game is built around automation, so why must you record yourself doing an action to teach the millionth bot something? If you did something manually once, you should be able to insert it into the code at any time in the future. You also need to grind like hell for the later tiers, and not the good kind of grinding.
This would have been a recommend from me, but the game needs a lot more polish and QoL improvements instead of relying on mods to do that for you.

After having completed it, I can say it's worth a buy if it's on sale. Otherwise, it's way too short with most of the levels feeling too sparse in comparison to Viscera Cleanup Detail. There are a few grammar errors here and there, one photo is done using undisclosed Midjourney AI, and it's very European despite apparently being set in some random US city (Dear European Game Developers, US floors start at one, not zero).

Despite having these problems and a general lack of content, I did have fun with the game. I just wish it didn't end so suddenly. I also wish Steam had a "meh" review score, since I didn't feel like it's worthy of a thumbs up, but also not bad enough to thumbs down.

I love that the game is a love letter to old school roguelikes, as well as its modding community.

I hate that the developers promised to name an achievement after me for killing Dredmor while dead. It's been about 12 years now and I'm still bitter about it.

I care as much about TF2 as Valve does.

I went in knowing its reputation. It wasn't as bad as people say it is, but it's nowhere near good enough to recommend.

The combat feels like Mass Effect 3 but with the camera pulled out to an annoying degree, and the movement just feels off. The whole thing felt like the Andromeda team played Mass Effect 3 and wanted to emulate that, but didn't have any competent programmers so they had to resort to interns to do the coding.

Moving from planet to planet on the system map has an invisible loading screen for some ungodly reason, and you can only skip the cutscenes once you're in motion, and it still takes several seconds of windup time.

Scanning is the worst. I basically let my squadmates do all the killing for me while I ran around like a chicken with its head cut off because I didn't want to swap from the scanner to a weapon in case I missed something.

By the time I got through the first planet and met the ugliest ass Asari I've ever seen, I was just so done with the game.
