I managed to not know anything about this game until a friend introduced it to me, and it was a very fun first experience. I recommend Normal difficulty for maximum enjoyment from the story, world-building this game has to offer. Because I started on Hard and I can barely do what I want in the open space without getting drained of my health, it diminished the experience a bit because I feel inclined to level up my skill tree, but thankfully you can change difficulty at any time from the main menu... There are 3 skill trees that level up very naturally, you wouldn't need to grind for them at all if playing on Normal difficulty.

Update: I've played through the main game and half-way through The Following DLC and it's... quite a lot to take in. I loved the intricacy of this world this game is taken in, but it's overshadowed by the lackluster of story pacing, not leaving room for character development nor for you to get much attached to them. The game excels best at features like looting, shooting, slashing, and parkour maneuvering. Despite the plot holes, most main/side characters have a unique and unforgettable charm to them.

Early Access Review
First impression, it's such a great game :D Fought through my first dungeon without using the inventory nor skills because I was just so ready to hop in and do stuff head on. Graphics are really captivating and there's always rooms for improvements (more foliage, etc.) Looking forward to the future releases!

There are lots of additions to the game as a sequel to "The Forest", ranging from qualities of life to ridiculously good weapons - including guns which were not good in the original. The developers have came a long way with their improvements for the game and I can only recommend picking this game up to experience for yourself, even if solo.

Initial review was Not Recommended due to account suspension. But it was resolved, and since then, my experience with Digital Extremes has grown and I've got nothing but respect for their team. There's bound to be hiccups here and there... Yes it's grindy, but it's free. And none of it is going away. Unless you were an old player (R.I.P. Raids). I've decided to revise this review because DE deserves all the love they can get. 1999 update rocks btw.

Don't Starve Alone
Update: Not sure why I made this review out to be so bland and typical, but after revisiting the game after a year break, I can say it's one of the timeless games out there. Nothing can compare to this unique and absolutely eye catching art style. Even though I don't keep up with the new updates I do just fine in public servers, because there's always the housekeeping that I adore doing, while the combat thirsty players go defeat the hardest boss using only Wolfgang's barehands or something. And the new skill tree system they've been implementing, it's really amazing (not for a select few though), makes the characters feel a bit more dynamic and good to play around.
