I managed to not know anything about this game until a friend introduced it to me, and it was a very fun first experience. I recommend Normal difficulty for maximum enjoyment from the story, world-building this game has to offer. Because I started on Hard and I can barely do what I want in the open space without getting drained of my health, it diminished the experience a bit because I feel inclined to level up my skill tree, but thankfully you can change difficulty at any time from the main menu... There are 3 skill trees that level up very naturally, you wouldn't need to grind for them at all if playing on Normal difficulty.

Update: I've played through the main game and half-way through The Following DLC and it's... quite a lot to take in. I loved the intricacy of this world this game is taken in, but it's overshadowed by the lackluster of story pacing, not leaving room for character development nor for you to get much attached to them. The game excels best at features like looting, shooting, slashing, and parkour maneuvering. Despite the plot holes, most main/side characters have a unique and unforgettable charm to them.
