Let me first start this off by acknowledging that this game is super cringy. The tired stereotypes and at times outright racism towards the women are wicked gross, but it's ridiculously addicting regardless. That might just be the bejeweled effect though.

Either way, it entertained me.

If you're looking for a rich and engaging story, look elsewhere. The story is as mundane and generic as it gets, but that's not why I played this. Going through the evolution of RPG gaming is the main draw to this game, and it doesn't disappoint in that regard. My first system was the original Nintendo, so this was very nostalgic for me - especially in the beginning. I also really enjoy the Final Fantasy and Legend of Zelda series, and this is heavily influenced by both of those series.

Basically, If you want to be entertained for a couple hours, this is a good go-to. It's not fancy by any means, but then again, it's not supposed to be.

This is another one of those games I played for nostolgia purposes, as the first time I beat this game on the original xbox was over 10 years ago. It still holds up well though, and thanks to "The Sith Lords Restored Content Mod" I got to expirience some things for the first time, which was nice. This is definitley one of those games you can play over and over!

I won't lie, I didn't complete the first game, although that was only because I was stuck near the end (the point of no return) with no way to make any potions or anything to stop me from dying. Because of that though (and the fact that I wanted to get to TW3 quicker) I decided to play on easy this time, which just made it become your basic hack & slash outside of a few bosses where you actually needed to put in more of an effort.

Because I wasn't so preoccupied with leveling up/crafting/alchemy in this game though, I was able to enjoy more of the story. The characters are MUCH more engaging and well-rounded than in the first game, and I actually ended up liking Triss in this one despite having found her super annoying in TW1. I really like that there are two distinct paths from chapter 2 onwards, and that actually makes me want to play it again just to see what the other side holds. I think my only complaint is that chapter 3 was entirely too short compared to the first two chapters.

I played with a controller and in my opinion that made it better than using a keyboard/mouse, but to each their own. The combat has improved A LOT with this game though, so if the combat was what turned you off of TW1 just know its 10x better in this one. Overall though, I really enjoyed it, and I can't wait to move on to TW3.

I was expecting this to be nostolgic as I used to have this game on my first phone, but it's a bit boring once I realized you can't even eat yourself like in the original. While I do appreciate the colorful aspect of it, that's about all it has going for it. Apparently the achievments have been changed as well, and while it was once easy to 100%, now it's a bit ridiculous. Get 1000 scores? 10,000? That's insane, and considering only .03% of people have achieved either of those two things, I think that proves it.

The game is very overpriced too, considering there's not much content. I'm glad I only got this game because I was issued a coupon from crafting a badge, and that's the only way I'll recommend anyone getting it. Otherwise, save your money.

Never bought a visual novel before, so I was unsure what to expect. While there wasn't a whole lot of player interaction, the story was romantic and engaging and definitely satisfied my lesbian incest kink. The 18+ patch made it all the more worth it too, although it stopped the "Together" achievement from popping for some reason.

ETA: I'm sorry, that was incorrect. The "Together" achievement is now unlocked when you're through with the 'afterstory' DLC, however I was unable to get the update unless I manually downloaded it, which may have been due to patch conflict.

When I first bought this port, I was concerned since so many people claimed it would constantly crash or have other techinical problems. However, when I played it I was at a constant 60 FPS and it didn't crash once. The ONLY issue I had with it was the rain, which for some reason got very milky white and intense in this version. There is a mod to fix it though, so it definitley wasn't game-breaking. Maybe those people were trying to play the game on a crappy computer? I'm unsure, but on my end, I didn't have any problems and it played flawlessly.

On a less technical note, this game is actually my favorite in the series. This is my second time playing it, having platted it once on the PS3, and I definitly wouldn't have bothered doing that (or playing it AGAIN, mind you) if it wasn't enjoyable. Yes, it's plot makes it obvious that they never planned for this sequel, but at least it ties in nicely with Lightning Returns. It's no longer linear (unlike it's predecessor pre-endgame), and the battle system brings everything good from the first game and allows you more customization in your battle teams with the addition of monsters (who can be infused with others for your own unique set up) as your third party member. I do miss having Lightning and the normal 'gang' around, but the addition of Caius, Yeul, and Noel, who are great characters in their own right, does make up for it. I think the only complaint I have about this game is the music - some of it, like the metal-esque sounding stuff - is a bit too much for me at times.

Just give it a shot though. If it doesn't play on your computer then I suggest playing it on its original platform (or investing in a better machine), because overall it really is a good game.

First of all let me start by saying that I've played through this game three times now, twice on ps3 (getting the platinum trophy the second time), and once on here. This game, and it's sequels, are by far my favorite game series and that is mostly to do with the characters. They're well-rounded, relatable, and you can't help but empathize with them. All of their relationships are rich and complex, and the game didn't have to resort to putting romance at the forefront to do it unlike many of their other games. It also has a female protagonist whose entire reason for existing isn’t about furthering a man’s storyline, so for that refreshing change of pace I’d give this an A++.

The game of course isn't without its flaws, but I think the biggest one for me personally was how repetitive battling was in the beginning. The game basically built in a continuous tutorial throughout your adventure so that you can master paradigm shifts and whatnot before it really begins to matter. This, of course, can be irritating if you’ve played the game before, or are a faster learner. Still, I found the paradigm system to be much more engaging and fun than the bland turn-based gameplay of RPGs in the past. The game is also very linear until you get to Gran Pulse, but at least Square Enix seemed to listen to complaints about that, as both sequels following this game gives you more freedom with open world gameplay.

When I had a crappier computer, the game played flawlessly up until Lake Bresha, where the FPS dropped to barely a smidge above 15. It was completely unplayable, and I had to wait until I got a better computer in order to finish the game. It now played perfectly with a solid 60 FPS during the entire rest of the game and has not crashed once, so for those of you complaining about it being a crap port… get a better computer, or play it on the platform it was originally intended for. Some games are just too much for badly specced computers to handle, and that goes for all games – not just ones that are ported.

Anyway, overall I highly recommend it; not just this game but the series as a whole. It’s been worth every penny for me.

I just replayed this game for the first time in nearly 10 years and it reminded me why I love RPGs so much. While I'm not a huge fan of combat that's determained with rolls, at least its not stop and go turn based, so you feel a little bit more in the action. The story is really great regardless of what path you choose to take, and it's something you can play over and over again and not get bored. There is a bit of a 'crashing' issue in windows 10 with the movies though: everytime a movie file plays or ends, the screen auto minimizes. It's annoying, but definitely not a game breaker.
