Thanks for visiting!

I'm Matt Wirkkala . I live in a suburb of Seattle. I'm known/found everywhere on that ole' inter-Web thingy as mwirkk .

See my Darklands fan page, the Darklands Domain [darklands.net]. It's the official home of the Darklands FAQ .

I also have the official, authorized home for The Historical Dracula [eskimo.com], a popular essay about the 15th Century Wallachian (Romania) Prince Vlad Tepes III , by Ray Porter (1992).

I highly recommend "Matt Chat", produced and hosted by Dr. Matt Barton . I can't recommend it enough! Since 2009 MattChat has published hundreds of great videos of game reviews and interviews with game industry insiders. Find them thru the MattChat blog [mattchat.us], (and FB [www.facebook.com]), on YouTube (blacklily8), or support the show thru Patreon [www.patreon.com] or PayPal. Check it out! Matt also has numerous books on gaming history, including his newest title, " Dungeons and Desktops 2.0 ", with Shane Stacks of radio-blog and Youtube Shane Plays fame. Find it wherever books are sold.

Also please visit Joe and Hanna Williams at Whalenought Studios [whalenoughtstudios.com]. Check out their fantasy cRPG game title " Serpent in the Staglands ". I love it! <8b And their newest release, a cyber-punk cRPG title " Mechajammer " (fka "Copper Dreams"). ...So, so good!! <:b

I'd like to also mention 2 more that deserve more attention than they get:

- Dwarf Fortress [bay12games.com] (DF) by Bay 12 Games [bay12games.com],

- UnReal World [unrealworld.fi] (URW) by Enormous Elk [enormouselk.com].

If you love chess variants like I do, try these!:

- Shahmot by Tony Britton. An official version is available for free at " Zillions of Games [zillions-of-games.com]" ( ZoG ).

- Laser Chess by Mike Duppong, Compute!'s 1987 programming contest winner, 1st introduced in the June, 1987 issue [archive.org]. Find it on Archive.org in C64 [archive.org] and DOS [archive.org] versions.

Here's a few non-game recommendations for your inner geek:

- Hal Spacejock [spacejock.com.au], a book series by Simon Haynes . It's a satirical, intra-galactic romp through space! I really recommend checking out this series, along with Simon's other books and free software [spacejock.com]!

- Camlann Medieval Village [camlann.org]. It's a Living History Project themed on a simple medieval English village, anno. 1376, located outside Carnation, Washington USA. The Camlann Medieval Association is a non-profit 501(c)3 charity organization.

- And... my favorite ISP, Eskimo North [eskimo.com], formed out of the ashes of prirate radio as a dial-up BBS in 1982, it is a full service Internet, shell and Web service provider that has for decades been a staple of the tech scene in the Seattle area since the very beginning. It's a local company with a global reach. Check them out at eskimo.com , or visit their FB [www.facebook.com] page.

Thx!

Protectors Banned me from both the discord and steam discussions perma for talking about the negatives of the new systems they put in play. I at no point insulted people or actually broke any rules.

I hadn't really gotten back to researching it yet. I wish-listed it in order to bookmark it for coming back and looking at again later. Vast majority of my wish-listed items are like that. That, or marking items to remind myself I already own them elsewhere. There are a minority of them, though, that are actually flagged because I really do want them, or think I do. ;p I make liberal use of the Ignore feature too. I wish other sites had that. <;b Anyway, now that you've reminded me I think I'll have another look at Sands of Salzaar. I wanted to find out more about the developer and what buzz there might be out there on BBS's and whatnot...
