Ok, I have never written a review before but!!!! I love love LOVE this game!! Honestly one of my favorite games I've ever played, I highly recommend ^^

If you're interested in playing it, here's why I'd try it out:
  • All of the characters are so so lovable imo (ahem except for Vace tbh)
  • The characters are so diverse not only in terms of looks, but also personality, interests, ways of engaging w the world and.... omf it's so fun to learn about them all!
  • SYM. He gets his own bullet point
  • The music/sound design is really great, I love how it changes with the seasons and makes the world feel more alive
  • Speaking of the world... THE WORLD DESIGN!! Vertumna is such a cool planet, I love how they designed the xenoflora and xenofauna, as well as some fun details about the world's origin
  • The replay value is so high, I'm already on my fourth run and I still am excited to keep playing and get more of the endings
  • Every single playthrough feels different, and I like how much variation exists in the epilogues and the storylines for other characters
  • The art style is so cute, and I love seeing the character models "grow up" along with the player
  • I love how well they integrate the past lives dream stuff into the next runs, allowing you advantages from your previous runs without the game feeling boring[/unlist]

I have only a few caveats, but here they are (I tried to mark spoilers where I could, but beware still):
    • There are some things that seem unintuitive to the player - for example (spoilers ahead) if you're trying to live in harmony with the Gardeners, you have to be friends with Marz??? And you have to work in command as a kid??? Why is that a requirement? However, you can just play the game again with this goal in mind to try to circumvent this challenge
    • Tammy's characterization. I get that she dies in your first route and therefore the game needs to be "complete" without her, but to me she just felt like an accessory to Cal, and not fleshed out in her own right...
    • On that note, both Cal and Tammy's romance routes feel a bit icky sometimes. I ended up with Cal in my first round and completely fell in love with him, and wanted to try to get with him on the second route too while saving Tammy . Basically, it seems like there's no way to romance Cal if you save Tammy without either a) tanking Tammy's confidence or b) flirting with both Cal and Tammy and making them confused??? Same goes for romancing Tammy - you basically have to tank her confidence, or tell Cal not to date her and remove her agency from the situation??? Idk if the developers were trying to go for a thing where people are "destined" to be together no matter what, but in a world where there are theorhetically infinite possibilities I... find this hard to buy?
    • OH AND SPEAKING OF THAT - not being able to save Kom??? I think the argument for it is that Kom needed to die for Anemone's character, but again I don't buy that. I would have loved to see Anemone stay a little more goofy
    • And on Anemome and Vace.... it feels like basically every character has the potential to be bad/unlikable, but not to the extent where your opinion of them is tarnished in other routes. The only character I find to be the exception to this is Vace. He can emotionally/physically abuse Anemone in their relationship and I'm like???? how am I supposed to think he's redeemable at all.... idk. I get they were trying to make a commentary about the nature of toxic relationships but it's just missing the mark a bit for me. And i don't love that they date no matter what, because then it feels really manipulative to try to get with Anemone after the fact idk?? [/unlist]

SORRY I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS ABOUT THIS GAME. Obviously no game is perfect but even just the amount of thoughts I have should show how interesting it is!! Idk I would def give it a play :)
