Short and sweet. Well, perhaps it is not so much that Portal is short as it is free from bloated filler. The mechanics are entertaining, the story plays a supplemental role, and while a narrative is present, it doesn't get in the way of the smooth flow of this game whatsoever. Portal entertains and does not overstay it's welcome. If you waited 16 years to try it out like I did, then wait no longer.

You either get the charm of it or you don't. It's graphical atmosphere hearkens back to a time before zoomers roamed the earth and gen X was still attending raves.

It's free. Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeshhhhhh

I recommend on two conditions, Recon must take care of that arty, and you have to get inside the circle.

Early Access Review
I wanted to like it, but at $19.99 for a source game that looks like this with only a few servers that have 4-8 players at a time, I just couldn't stomach it.

Either hackers are already at work, or the game play is so sporadic that it feels like hackers are at play. Playing against bots is no problem, hits register properly, no instakilled every second, but as soon as I got to a no bot server I was getting sniped by a guy with the funny letters in a his name who was sticking out of a solid wall on Hue. I could not hit him through the wall even though his head was sticking out. Either he was up to some nefarious ♥♥♥♥ or the game just has that many blatant exploits that people have already figured out.

The damage output on weapons is all over the place. People hip firing smgs landing head shots every time they pop around a corner, meanwhile I hit someone 5 times with an m14 and they still somehow survive to turn around an instakill me.

The graphics are laughable for $20, I think Men of Valor from the early 2000s had more accurate representations of uniforms and kit for both sides, I mean the M1 helmet looks like a popcorn bowl, this is something Call of Duty 1 did better 2 decades ago. I honestly think a garrysmod server with RS2 player models might be a less bugged source engine Vietnam era fps experience.

IF they balance things out a bit more, and be more realistic about the price, this game may have a future. If not, there will be more people playing Day of Defeat source than this within 2 years.

EDIT: According to Steam Charts, DoD Source already has more people playing, with a 362.2 player 30 day avgerage vs Military Conflict: Vietnam's 35.6

Plays like a dream using an xbox controller on windows 10. This review may be written looking through nostalgia tinted glasses, but for me this is still the best Star Wars flight sim. Play in cockpit camera view and it is very immersive. Finally getting all those gold medals that were out of reach for me as an 8 year old.

It makes me sad to think how they could make such awesome Star Wars flight sim games with today's technology, but I guess pay walls and loot crates are the name of the game these days.

It's Turok like you remember it, except without fog, or terrible N64 contoller configuration, or low resolution, and not running at 30 FPS.

Good fun for sure.

Got it on sale and it felt right.

It's Runescape as you remember it.

This takes me back to the days of dial up internet, not having to shave, taking shots of mixed drinks and the excitement of walking for a half hour with friends to hangout at a shopping mall with absolutely zero money.

P.S.

The in-game economy is almost as inflated as the Biden Administration's, just ask anyone for money, someone literally gave me like 300k gold in Lumbridge.

The story line we all wanted to remain canon. Jedi Outcast is my favorite Star Wars FPS, and from the looks of the way EA has been handling things, probably always will be

PS

The Imperial Remnant will always be cooler than The First Order.
