Early Access Review
Not a huge emphasis on the survival aspects, and is pretty open to doing your own thing. It's not a universal recommendation at this point (as it does feel like some of the depth and density of content is a bit lacking), but the game can still be quite fun and is very polished for early access.

Early Access Review
Still early - but very promising digital adaptation staying true to the board game.

Early Access Review
Had a blast playing solo or with friends. Progression rate is pretty good, especially for early access.

I was very hessitant about getting the game after all of the terrible reviews it's recieved. However I am extreemely pleased to say that after trying it I am plesantly surprised.

The Good
I can't speak to the state of the game immediatly after launch, however I bought the game on October 4, and had 0 issues. Launching the game I found that the game natually detected that I had a 1440p screen running at 144 hz, and I was getting a full 144 fps. Also it natually was using KB/mouse for control but upon trying to use my Xbox One Elite controller all of the tool tips switched over to XB1 buttons and worked flawlessly. I tried adding a second player with kb/mouse to test and everything seemed functional albeit the controls seemed awkward (I would heavily recommend using a controller for the game).

The Bad
While this feels critical to put in the bad, the game is in no way a "remaster" of the game (nor does it claim to be). That said though the graphics are straight from 2009 and look like the belong on the Xbox 360. It would have been great to see a refresh of the game assets for more modern times but just know this is a port, not a remaster.
Again I would also note here the controls for PC feel very awkward in the 10 minutes I tried playing with them. However I fully intended to always use a controller with this.

Incredibly well done game, for free.
If nothing else, the aestetics of the game are fantastic. The level of customizabillity is fantastic. The build diversity due to the mod system allows you to play basically any character in any role. Although it may seem like some of the same levels rather repeated, there is enough weapon and character diversity (as well as ~10 different mission types) that the game doesn't get stale as long as you are exploring new things. Levels are generated based on tile sets that look beautiful. Basically the game is art, with the best combat system that balances powers with bows with guns with rocket launchers and everything else.

Amazing game to pick up for cheap a few different places, not sure I would say it's worth the full sticker price right now. The game really shines when 2-4 friends play though together. The story telling is alright, but nothing to be amazed at. The character customization in terms of aestetics is fine, but skills are a little narrow (imo). However I still really enjoy playing the game and would recommend it for anyone who has looked for a XCOMesque co-op experience.
