Hrot is clearly a passion project turning into a polished brown gem of a game.

Hrot feels great to play. Unlike many of the other retro shooters Hrot actually looks and plays like a game I somehow missed in my youth. I always respect devs who use old or exotic engines to make their "retro game".

Hrot is beautiful and strange. It features excellent level design with some great-looking, depression-inducing, architecture. Like Quake Hrot's graphics are true 3D (!) and consist of pleasing crispy textures, fat square pixels and particle effects and more wobbly polygons than you can count. Its colour palette contains at least 78 shades of brown sprinkled with some other colours here and there for good measure. Its levels are fun to explore, interactive (working cupboards, toilets, lights, synths,...), educational, often funny and spooky and they contain many secrets and surprises.

So far, Hrot's arsenal is pretty standard but most weapons are a joy to use. Ammo and health are rather scarce even on the normal skill setting. Fortunately grenades are rarely in short supply. Hrot's enemy roster is varied and the monsters seem to have better AI than those found in many of the AAA AAA games.

The sound design is very good but some of the guns do sound a bit too much like peashooters. (I guess because they are peashooters but still...). The ambient soundscape is superb.

Hrot runs very well even on my most humble laptop. Resolution and aspect ratio options would be welcome though. Sometimes 1600x900 16:9 is just too much.

A level editor and multiplayer options could help make Hrot immortal.

Definitely give Hrot a try if you like Quake, Kingpin, the Build games, the janky Chasm the Rift
and I'm sure you'll agree Hrot zagrevev min zlotny dev! *

I am personally eagerly looking forward to the next Hrot episode and future projects from this developer.

Rockstar's most recent update to L.A. Noire added online-only DRM.

The update was made in April of 2021. Prior to that the game was playable offline. There is currently no known fix or patch that reverts the update, and you can't roll back to the previous version either, since Rockstar changed the executable's file name with this update (trying to launch the game from Steam with the previous version will result in a "missing executable" error).

Super 3-D Noah's Ark is super fun, super educational*, super fast-paced, super skill-based, super ball-bustingly hard and 100% Family Approved™!

Super 3-D Noah's Ark is super optimized. My 1090 GTX Super SLI runs Super 3-D Noah's Ark superbly well. The GPU and CPU fans do spin super loudly when more than two of every kind of animal are rendered on screen at the same time but that is to be expected.

I do hope that one day a dev team creates a similar game where we get to shoot nazis or maybe even demons.

*For instance, before playing Super 3-D Noah's Ark I did not know which of Noah's sons was a tattle-tale. Do you know?
