A good game? Yes. A good Crusader sequel? Not entirely.

Let me be clear by saying I don't hate the game and its actually quite fun but my main issue is it feels half done. There aren't too many bugs and the game runs smoothly on either of the systems I've run it on. (A desktop with two year old parts and an average laptop that's around four years old. When I said the game feels half done I mean to say that the game feels flavourless and at times even dull. The art, animation and design are fairly basic and simplistic; one of my biggest disappointments is the lack of interesting voice acting from the computer opponents to the humble peasants that populate my castle all the voice acting is bland or in the case of the latter. totally absent. The music is half recycled from the original and half stereotypical pseudo middle-eastern. With only 8 AI opponents there isn't a large number of challenges and it was disappointing to not see the likes of the Pig or the Snake. The appearance of familiar opponents like the Wolf and the Rat was welcome but I'm confused why they recorded new voices for those two characters when many of the units (European Archers for example) use the exact same voice recordings from the first Crusader title.

All in all Stronghold Crusader 2 is a solid game and quite fun to play but in my own opinion it doesn't live up to either the hype or the legacy of the original Stronghold Crusader.

P.S. I personally would buy Stronghold Crusader HD for cheap and wait for this game to come down in price. It's not worth the $50 price tag but will be more than worth while to snag on a Steam sale.

Its a great game and concept but the issue is that it probably should have been released in November. Its buggy, tutorials are not in game which will make it difficult for the average user to get right into the game. There's a lot more micromanagement than I like personally but if manually doing most everything is your cup of tea in games then this one will be good to you. I've wanted a really good Train Management Sim since Railroad Tycoon 3 came out and I'm still waiting for a REALLY good Train Management Sim. 7/10

Early Access Review
Do not buy this, do not on a whim buy this game like I did. The Dev team has gone silent on future updates and as it stands it is likely they have abandoned the project all together. It's a shame really :(

Not a bad game, quite a fun battle sim and worth the $10 but unfortunately at times it feels like it would be better on an iPad though. 8/10 as it stands in Early Access.

UPDATE: What can I say? This game is still a masterpiece and continues to be worked on and improved. The latest DLC "Holy Fury" revamps and reenergizes this game. Ultimately, Crusader Kings II is truly one of the greatest games I've ever had the pleasure of playing and I cannot recommend it enough to people. Still a 10/10

What an amazing game, Crusader Kings II is a stunning masterpiece of a strategy game with stong RPG elements that draw you into this beautiful medieval world. One of the only downsides about getting into the game at this point is the mountain of DLC that is out there; while the dlc isn't entirely necessary it is very beneficial to your experience to buy the major DLC's like Old Gods, Sword of Islam and Legacy of Rome to name a few. Overall this game is amazing and pulls you in as you lead your dynasty as a Count, Duke, King or Emperor. A quick word of warning is that this game has quite the learning curve but patience and a few hours sunk into it will get you going and you won't ever stop. Two years later and the game is still supported and I still play it whenever I can.

Happy Crusading!

P.S. Check out the Game of Thrones mod, it is an amazing and in depth total conversion mod that places you right in the heart of the world of Ice and Fire.

Fantastic indie game, near perfect for simulating governments and the situations they have to deal with. Elections and parties could be handled better but its still an amazing game.

Great title stretching from 1399 to 1815. Amazing for in depth strategy across the post-medieval world. Extreme learning curve, after nearly two years of owning this game, I still have trouble with some of its concepts.

Great game overall, possibly the best hand to hand combat sim out there, archery is interesting as well though the game's main focus seems to be on cavalrymanship and swordsmanship (both are masterfully designed). Full of adventure in a feudal/medieval world enjoy fighting for or against the six Kingdoms that make up of Caladria.

Easily the best WWII tactical game out there, a out of class rival to Company of Heroes which while CoH is a great game, Men of War: Assault Squad brings realism, scope and graphical beauty to the WWII genre.
