This is legit a masterpiece, I haven't been so attached to a game for a long while, and the stories it creates are damn memorable. People overcoming most dangerous odds in most incredible ways. Tragicomic deaths and downfalls. Comic mishshaps involving limb loss. You can have it and all more, and it's not scripted, just simulated!

The general premise is simple, you've crashlanded or separated from your tribe on a backwater planet, and you try to survive. Which means ensuring you have enough food, at least the basic comforts, defenses... and things keep escalating from then. Wounds need treatment else you may lose a limb or die off or develop painful scars. Raids keep growing in power so you better get smarter defenses and exploit cover. Food production may need optimisation. Fridge may need a few upgrades to withstand a winter. Robots attack, hope you've got something to deal with sturdier enemies. Crucial electronics break but you're out of components for replacement so you gotta hastily salvage or break a less essential device. Fires happen, can burn out your whole place. Animals can go mad and maul your colony. It all can happen. Thanfully good things happen too, if things go just well enough not to perish you may prosper and grow.

Visually it's simple and very readable, and interface is pretty simple too. Soundtrack is lovely. But, really, those aren't as important as the gameplay with it's extreme depth and variety of events and possibilities. There's plenty of space for improvisation and creativity, from base layout design to combat strategies.

It's still Early Access at the moment of writting but it's pretty much feature-complete and developer promises more content even after release. And what's more important, the game is easy to mod, which makes it even more replayable than it already is on it's own. Update: Out of early access now, and while feature addition has slowed, the content keeps on coming in form of mods. There's so, so many mods getting released on a regular basis, it's impressive.
