It's a game about dying.
Literally, I mean that in just about every applicable way for this game. Hyper Light Drifter is a really, really fun Hack and Slash with an OST that can't tell if it wants to put you to sleep or give you a heart attack. Basically, what I'm saying is; the parts of the game that are calming are absolutely serene, and the parts that are stressful keep you on edge.

The game itself is difficult. Not insanely difficult-- I'd say it's somewhere between "professional gamer" and casual. Personally, most of the bosses were a cakewalk, but the last couple genuinely kicked my ass. I heavily recommend this game to anyone from any gaming background. Whether you're in it for the arcade-y feel and difficult (but fun) gameplay, or if you're wanting to experience the story and melancholy of it all, I think you should play this.

Not only is it a relatively short game (around 8-12 hrs of gameplay. You'll die a lot. It's a game about dying after all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) but it's also a genuine work of art that's structured in such a way that its story and meaning are completely defined by the player's interpretation. The most interesting part of this game is that this game has absolutely zero lines of dialogue, and instead uses pictures and environmental clues to help form the story.
