my wife and I enjoy the crypotography of the "Prose and Codes" game and we like mystery-solving games, so "covert action" was pretty good experience, despite the thirty-five year old age... there is a unique, randomized criminal plot that gets generated each time that you play... one big complaint was the stinky, real-time combat mini-game

purchased this title in a "sid meiers bundle" somewhere... but was anything done to update software to justify the steam store price?

Could have been an interesting first-person exploration into eldritch occultism. Instead it is a uninspired collect-a-thon game, with stiff combat, boring story cutscenes, and unskippable minigames - such as platforming with mouse-click jumping. Barf!

Nope. I did not like it. Having to do the same dungeon over and over - with the same three or four monsters - was not made fun with just an addition of multiple weapons. Seventeen hours dedicated because of all the glowing reviews and game industry awards. This game was not for me.

Very funny, high quality point and click adventure game. Rather on the easy-end of the story-to-challenge ratio, but so many clever text descriptions make reading every story a joy.

Solved the cases with my best friend, on an ubuntu desktop computer. Synth soundtrack was a big plus

Took me a while to purchase this game, but I am sure glad that I did. It is the right mix of cozy base-building and rouge-like fighting. The balance is really up to you: go boldly into the dungeons non-stop, or hang with your townies only dip your toe in a dungeon to get a few coins.

Add to that an upgrade progression that lets you decide whether your townspeople will be enriched or sacrificed by your religious sermons.

I felt like the game design was very well thought out, which is so important for a base-building game like this one. You will spend tens of hours doing the same tasks over and over, so they have got to be fun or at least avoidable if you do not want it. I never felt that I was being pushed to do the "fishing mini-game" (yuck!) like so many other Stardew Valley clones.

I recommend this game at full-price, but then there are always sales and bundles for this game title. If you can get it on-sale, then it is a big thumbs up for fans of the base-builder genre.

I played this game on an Ubuntu desktop computer, and I also enjoyed the experience on a Steam Deck. Either way, the game needs to be played with gamepad controls.

Enjoying the tempo of this game... one part reflex-testing dodging and then one part contemplative damage assignment. There's lots of very good narrative story to keep the game interesting, too.

The game uses uncomplicated controls... just a jump and directions... but it there is enough challenge for me, who lacks super reflexes. I had to revisit some levels to gain resources for later levels. Many would complete the game without that timesink, but wow, I am glad the developer made it available. How many platformers have me only able to complete half the content?

Wishing this developer had continued making video games.. This one and Gloom had great gameplay, narrative, and an interesting worldbuilding that lacks in many other indie games.

Played on an Ubuntu desktop computer with an 8BitDo SN30 gamepad

It is okay. Basically a very funny graphic novel. There's only one gameplay decision to make - at the end, and otherwise it is just walking around a room, advancing dialogue of different characters until finished. Is it worth five dollars? Well, my friend fell asleep on the couch in the short time that it took to finish playing. I had some laughs, so I suppose I recommend it, but I thought there was a bit more magic in the first episode. Played on the Steam Deck, docked, with a wireless mouse.

Amazing multiplayer game of negotiation and profit calculation. Huge, international player-base and complex, interesting gameplay. I am so hooked!

Update: Coming back to my review to say that I found the end-game content to be dissatisfying. The game requires more and more of your real-life time to keep your company afloat. That might be fun for a while, until some real-life responsibility happens and you get to watch your company crash into the ground.

Eye detection did not work consistently, for either myself or a friend. The game did the calibration settings just fine, but when trying to use the eye-blink controls in the gameplay, it was like... blink, blink, blink, BLINK, BLINK... blink... blink... BLINK... and finally worked. The remainder of the gameplay is just dull, like a visual novel. I did not think the game was worth playing by using the alternative mouse-clicking controls. Big let down.

Fantastic story telling and writing, top scores on animations and voice acting, and the point and click gameplay is excellent. My only complaint is the unfulfilling ending, which is so common for mystery stories. Otherwise, it was lots of hours of joyful exploration of a interesting world, with humorous main characters.

With a lot of video game reviews, you hear the term "great writing" mentioned, when there are just some measly scraps of notes left for cheap world-building. In Tangle Tower, there are characters who answer in poems, there is believable dialogue between characters, and there is an engaging story with many twists that kept me engaged throughout. That's truly great writing.

I really enjoyed the story puzzle gameplay, where the game asked me to fill in the blanks, with different story objects. It forced me to pay attention to the story arc, before revealing the next twist. That made me feel that I was right there with the detectives - making the connections. And there was no penalty for getting it wrong. That was so much more fun than the dialogue puzzles in Rockstar Games, for example.

Explored the Tangle Tower with a friend, on an Ubuntu Linux desktop, with Steam's Proton compatibility software. We used a Steam Deck with a Deck Dock, to use a wireless mouse for a controller. There's a game demo available to try, and if you like that look and feel, then I strongly recommend this game title at the full price.
