Early Access Review
Bannerlord, Bannerlord.

We've been waiting for over eight years to finally be able to play this game. As soon as it was on the market I rushed in to buy it as soon as possible. Then iDeal gave up, so I tried again later that evening.
Well, later that evening I finally bought it, installed it and booted the game up.

With adrenaline soaring through my veins I started to play the tutorial, and eventually ventured out into the lands of Calradia. I really enjoyed the first ten hours of playing, but after that, I recognized that many of Bannerlord's features are just like those in Warband, with near to no change at all. One of those is the hideout mechanic. This happend an hour ago:
Fielding an army of 100 men, trying to clear out a bandit hideout with only four bandits in it, go in with eight of your peasants (instead of those immense beasts you've been training, for some apparant reason), get sniped by one of the four bandits, lose everything. Nice work there, TaleWorlds..
Then, tournaments weren't changed, taverns weren't changed, the clan/faction system is basically exactly the same as Warband's one. I would think that in eight years, they would've found ways to make those features more interesting, wouldn't they?
Then, of course, I must admit that the textures look way better, combat feels less clunky, sieges are actual sieges now, and many other features have been added. I am just thoroughly disappointed by the lack of improvement in both good and bad features that have been in the game since Mount & Blade first came out. I think TaleWorlds has played it too safe in many aspects.

Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy playing the game (a lot), I am, though, a bit disappointed.
I'm going to try out Multiplayer next!

I really enjoyed this game, even though it hadn't been long before I completed the game. I really think I'd enjoy some more chapters playing as an Android though, maybe with a DOG-VI as a companion.

Anyways, loved the game the while it lasted! :)
