One of the best indie horror jrpg's, no question about it. But I must say that the "additional content" such as Blood Mode and IF Mode were very.... unnecessary? They're just retellings of the ending of the game, which makes it lose its suspense and mystery. I wish Blood Mode was more than just a "speedrun the game as adult Aya Mode" because it had cool potential I think.

The sprites in this version look off, and it might just be because I watched Let's Plays of the original version with the original sprites a long time ago, so I naturally prefer how they look in the original version.

Additionally, thechase sequence in the finalewas laughably bad, mostly due to how the new voice actor for Alfred Drevis sounds extremely goofy. Especially at the "boo" part. Very unnecessary addition to what was an otherwise highly intense sequence. Other than that, though - love this game.

This game was peak years ago, and is now only a shell of what it once was because of corporations with the rights to the licenses of F13/Jason and their petty lawsuits. Still, I'll never forget the memories of playing this game after school and killing Jason with my buddies

Lego Indiana Jones 1 is literally the best Lego video game ever made. I love Lego Star Wars TCS but I love this game like a hair more. I have way too much emotional and nostalgia value to this game that it is priceless to me.

Baldur's Gate 3 absolutely deserves every single award it gets. This game came out in a time - that is still occurring - where games are being made without soul by corporate game publishers, be it development shortcuts, predatory business models, and/or reliant on live service, Baldur's Gate 3 is a ray of hope for the gaming industry.

I have never played a fantasy-heavy game in my life, and I was extremely surprised by how much I enjoyed this game. The hard-working developers that are Larian Studios have my infinite praise for not only their efforts on what is an extremely outstanding game, they have my undying appreciation for introducing me to the world of Dungeons & Dragons. I encourage game publishers to follow Larian's business model - a damn good story with no further *overpriced* DLC/predatory microtransactions with direct communication and understanding of what their audience wants.

Fun co-op experience and funny parody of mindless patriotism. Unfortunately suffers from a severe lack of content to be had due to its early life. It's ok I guess.

EDIT: the literal day after I wrote this, Sony did the whole PSN account link requirement thing, so that also sucks.

To the people who are defending Sony in this endeavor, keep licking their boots harder. You're part of the problem and the reason why game companies will continue to do awful business practices. Because they know people like you will just tolerate it and suck it up like the spineless rat you are.

EDIT 2: Sony may have backtracked on this decision but they absolutely would have committed had they not received the overwhelming backlash they got. It's insane what game publishers will try and get away with.

I'm currently trying so hard to get into this game but am having extreme difficulty. Love the game's gritty and dirty art style but the mechanics are very hard to ease into. A shame, because this game apparently has really good worldbuilding. One day, Fallout 2.

[SPOILER-FREE] TL;DR: If you've never played the original Persona 3, this game is worth the $70. This review will be for those who plan on diving into this game blind.

Persona 3 Reload has one of the best video game stories I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. And, by far, the best story out of the Persona franchise. Despite what players of P3/P3P/P3FES will say, you don't need to endure the abyssmal AI-controlled teammates, or the (MOSTLY) dated art style, or the AWFUL voice acting from some characters in the original to experience this game. Persona 3 deserves this remaster. Don't let others dictate how you want to experience it.

That is not to say Reload didn't have its issues. So before I go over what I did like, I will first go over what I disliked about it.

Allow me to clarify that I have never played any variant of Persona 3 before I played Reload, so this will NOT be a comparison between Reload and the OG or anything. This was just my firsthand singleplayer experience. Let's begin:

What I disliked:
-Firstly, DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME ON MERCILESS DIFFICULTY UNLESS YOU KNOW THE CONSEQUENCES! Normally, New Game+ (NG+) will carry over rewards once you have finished the story. THIS IS DIFFERENT FOR RUNS ON MERCILESS! On Merciless, the only things that will carry over into your NG+ will be: "Some" souvenirs, all costumes except the S.E.E.S uniforms, and your playtime. That is it. No Persona compendium, no money, no analysis info (i.e. what affinities the enemies are weak to), social stats, player stats, HP/SP gains, etc. It is a crippled NG+.

-Tartarus can and will be super exhausting to go through. Especially in the 3rd block, where the rooms become cluttered and dense to see through. This was the hardest block for me to get through and was undoubtedly my biggest hurdle to get over with this game. Pace yourself accordingly and take breaks.

-Tartarus' theme very slightly and subtly changes, so the repetition of hearing the Tartarus music can get to you sometimes. Thankfully, the game does have a music slider in the settings. So you have the option of turning the music down or muting it.

-This isn't necessarily something I *dislike* about Reload, but just know that this game is LONG, as the Persona games typically are. It's important to understand this before you buy this game.

-SEGA West made the unfortunate decision of forcing Atlus (because SEGA owns Atlus) to give all of the main characters new voice actors for the English dub. The only exception to this is Tara Platt, who reprised her role as Elizabeth. Now, as someone who never played other P3 variants, this was no issue to me. However, the fact that Persona 3 established an associated voice with the main characters in not only the mainline games, but the spin-offs as well, it is kind of weird to hear - for example - what should be Akihiko's voice actor be in the game, but not voice Akihiko. I personally believe that some characters had terrible voice acting in the original game, but that was possibly a product of the voice direction, not the VA's themselves, so this game was a very good opportunity to redeem the voice acting with the og VA's. It's a shame they didn't capitalize.

What I liked:
-The story in Persona 3 is unparalleled. Persona 3 is not going to pull its punches. It will hurt. It will sting. And it will be unforgiving. And yet, the game is infinitely better for that. There is nothing quite like the world of Persona 3, with how raw it can be emotionally. You will have to overcome the hardest of struggles, but once you do, it will feel ten times more rewarding. The game deals with extremely heavy subjects such as suicide, death, and loss. If you are very uncomfortable with these topics, this game may not be for you. And that's OK.

-The characters in Persona 3 are as real as it gets. There are exceptions to this, but generally speaking, this game has characters that will make you reflect on yourself. This is something the Persona series almost never messes up with, so I was very happy to see that it was no different in Reload.

-The voice acting in this game is miles better of the original Persona 3. Say what you want about the new VA's, but they f*cking KILL it. And this game deserves it. The new VA's, as much as I wish Reload recast the originals, have my infinite praise for their performances.

-I mentioned that Tartarus will be a drag to go through eventually, but once you actually get into fights, that's when the game shines brightest. If you're familiar with SMT/Persona's combat system, this game will likely be relatively easy for you. The combat in this game can be challenging, but fair if you know what you're doing. If you're unfamiliar with SMT's combat system, take the time to fully understand what ability types do, and what their roles are in combat. You'll thank yourself later.

-The remastered music tracks are very good, but there are some tracks that are unable to hold up to their original counterparts. The biggest example of this is the new Mass Destruction. New Mass Destruction features a fire new verse section but lacks the hype in the chorus the original did. I recommend enjoying the music for what it is in this game but don't be afraid to listen to the OG music as they're also amazing.

Conclusion:
Persona 3 Reload made me cry 4 times throughout my first playthrough. It was absolutely worth it. However, I struggled to get through this game at the midpoint section. I often found myself asking "What are we even fighting for? What is the reason why we do the things we do? What's the point?" it was so bad I almost dropped the game and looked up the story. Before I did this, I decided to ask a friend of mine who played the original if it was going to be worth my time. Instead of telling me what I wanted to hear, they told me that they didn't know, as we all experience things differently. So I gave Persona 3 a second chance and I absolutely do not regret it in the slightest. And I assure you, you won't either.

TL;DR: Wesker carries this game so hard it's not even funny

What I disliked about RE5:
This game has a more frustrating movement system than RE4. Which shouldn't be possible because RE4 uses the tank control system and this game doesn't. Kinda. The problem is that this game does a mix of the regular 3rd person shooter controls and the tank controls, which is a little disastrous.

The AI is also so bad that you they will legit softlock you in certain areas. I did when you're in the room right before the Jill boss fight and your partner has to climb up a platform to push this container/dumpster. They kept dying to the BOW's crawling on the walls because I couldn't cover them, nor could I cover myself when I went because I had to push the damn thing.

What I liked about RE5:
The characters are pretty phenomenal. Chris is nearly as big as the boulder he punches in the final act and Wesker was Resident Evil's most compelling and coolest villain. I used to not like Sheva all that much (large reason being because of the AI) but in hindsight, she's a pretty good addition to the series. Jill's reveal is pretty cool, and the enemies (both the Majini and the BOW's) are pretty menacing.
