Rebel Galaxy is a babyproofed Freelancer with naval combat and a touch of Firefly. neat, but if you've played other space sims you'll probably find this relatively shallow. even so there's ~20 hours of stylish fun to be had here.

not a bad game at all; just don't buy it expecting Star Citizen.

This is not a bad game. The puzzles are decent, production values are all there, and the premise certainly sounds fascinating, doesn't it? So how could I dissuade you from purchasing this promising sci-fi title?

Unfortunately the story fails to follow through. Without spoiling anything, the resolution of the "twin" plotlines is telegraphed hard not even halfway through the game. Even worse, the most interesting aspect of the premise (an amnesiac in a prison of amnesiacs) resolves in the least interesting way possible. I was very hyped to see what kind of intrigue this would bring to the table; turns out it brings almost none.

It's tempting to be more lenient because of solid art, voice work and music, but there are games in the same genre and/or offered by the very same publisher that're so much more satisfying in their storytelling. By comparison Gemini Rue is one of the more disappointing point-and-click adventures I've played; it's certainly the most disappointing Wadjet Eye game I've played.

If you must disregard my warning, dear reader, then buy it on sale and temper your expectations.

P.S. Developer commentary is one of the absolute worst I have ever forced myself to listen to. Completely dry, minimal insight, utterly tedious. My god.

Throw Deus Ex, Warhammer 40k, Silent Hill, Half-Life 2 and a pinch of Heart of Darkness into a French blender, run the result through Google Translate and you've got yourself some Divine Cybermancy. People can argue whether or not it's good, but whatever else it might be it is totally unique. Absolute diamond in the rough of a game.
