This is a seriously fun game. TLDR: If you can afford it, it's at least worth checking out in my opinion.

I had previously tried to get into the ArmA series with Arma 3, but it was just too overwhelming and felt very dated. This game pretty much fixed any problems I had with the previous title. It just looks, feels, and plays SO much better. The tutorial is great, the graphics are great, sound is great, and the base content is very fun. That's not even covering all the awesome community mods that have already been made for it. The community is booming right now, so much so that it's actually hard to find a slot on a server sometimes. Even if you're not that into the "realism" aspect of the game, I think the social aspect of it alone is pretty worth it. It's really something else to work together with people you've never met before in your life, and might likely never see again.

Be warned though, this is essentially a playtest for the engine that Arma 4 will be running on. While there is a lot of content, it is nothing compared to the content available for Arma 3. There's also the usual things that come with online multiplayer games, like cheaters, toxic players, etc. The servers crash sometimes too, and you might also just get randomly kicked due to a bug.

Still though, all in all, solid game. Some of the moments I've had in this game would never be possible anywhere else.

Very fun game, but unfortunately, the multiplayer co-op is very flawed and the anticheat doesn't seem to work very well.
The co-op mode allows you to summon your friends into your world to help you with certain enemies, but at the same time it opens you to the possibility of having a hostile player invade you, and there is no way to turn it off. I was invaded by a player that was blatantly cheating that somehow soft-locked my entire save and I had to start a new one. They killed a bunch of the bosses across my whole world and left me trapped at the final boss with no way to call anyone in for help or to teleport out. I ended up having to start an entirely new character. Very frustrating, but thankfully I was only around 4 hours in.
Other than that, this game is amazing, and I still recommend buying it if you can.
If you do play this game, I would recommend playing through it solo for a while first, and then maybe using the co-op multiplayer mod instead of the vanilla mode.

This game used to be super fun back when it came out, it was really cool to see a battle royale game be set in a winter setting. Then they ruined it with tons of microtransactions and mindless extra content which made it just another crappy battle royale clone. I don't recommend it anymore, just go play pubg or something instead.
