Been a huge fan of SO2 since the PSX release and remain so today; after a few hours I'm very impressed with this remake, it's gorgeous, the use of original sprites works far better than I expected, and the various changes and additions are all things that make the game more fun and reduce inconveniences.

You can hold RMB to focus your mining laser and mine much faster.

Nails the formula, and is extremely cute to boot, the vibes are immaculate. Preordering as a concept is redeemed.

Everything about this is perfect. Announcing and releasing it on the same day? Perfect. The aesthetics? Perfect. The gameplay? Perfect. The music? Perfect. The characters? Perfect. The direction? Perfect.

It's early to call GOTY but... wow is this a strong contender right out of the gate.

This game is genuinely beautiful, and the brilliant aesthetics are but the tip of the iceberg when I say that. It is thoughtful, moving, affecting, and deeply and sincerely human. Succeeds in every regard and cannot be recommended highly enough.
