If you think you are goth, remember, Melkor was Morgoth.

“And some things that should not have been forgotten were lost. History became legend. Legend became myth.” -- J.R.R. Tolkien

"May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won’t." -- George S. Patton :steamsalty:

“Give them nothing, but take from them everything.”

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Sorry Conan movie nerds, but you are mistaken...

One day in the pavilion at Karakorum he [Genghis Kahn] asked an officer of the Mongol guard what, in all the world, could bring the greatest happiness.

"The open steppe, a clear day, and a swift horse under you," responded the officer after a little thought, "and a falcon on your wrist to start up hares."

"Nay," responded the Kahn, "to crush your enemies, to see them fall at your feet -- to take their horses and goods and hear the lamentation of their women. That is best."

"Anger is a healthy response to some things but you shouldn't live in a state of anger all the time. It can impact your life in countless ways and make you feel like you are at war with everyone and everything. Anger can trick you into feeling like you are always right and the world is always wrong. I sincerely encourage everyone to look at their relationship with anger and talk to someone if you feel like maybe you over-index on rage as a coping mechanism for other things happening in your life.

Video games are toys, the stakes are low. Your mental health is paramount. Life can be very difficult, take care of yourselves."

"The internet itself gives an outlet for people to do and say things that they would never consider saying to someone's face in person. Just look at practically any forum on the internet, or look at comments sections for news stories, and a significant amount of that is toxic beyond belief. Those same attitudes, opinions, and behavior are spilling over into these types of discussions. It is a learned behavior, and an artificial by-product of the current climate, socially and politically, and not the game.

I hold myself to a different standard. I don't say anything on these boards that I would not say directly to someone's face, in person.

The last element that adds to the toxicity is the climate of entitlement. People for some reason think they are owed something by the world, and when someone disagrees with them, they tend to go ballistic and have a meltdown, because that is not how the world is supposed to work. That carries over into the game as well.

It is about treating each other the same way as you would treat that person face to face, with courtesy and respect. That is lacking in today's cyber citizen, to include the gaming crowd, unfortunately."
