THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS!!!! TL;DR If you like/love the premise, check it out ASAP and see if it's for you!

I first tried this demo after reading about it a few months ago, and it just didn't feel right. However, I was tempted to give it another try, because I loved the premise: An old school MMO, but single player, with no commitment required, and no pressure. So I dove in, and pushed past the tutorial. What followed was a six hour straight playthrough to the end. Erenshor fully delivered on its premise and I had a blast the entire time, leaving me wanting more content. Can't wait for the full release!

The SimPlayers aren't fully alive, but they're a perfect simple snapshot of how it used to be online in the MMOs back then. The SimPlayers each have their own little personality, giving them their own small charm. They perform well enough in combat (I almost wish they'd perform more erratically, like real players!), and they ask for trades, for both selling and loot. The SimPlayers accomplish the goal of "single player MMO" quite well!

The world of Stowaway's Step was another huge staying point for me. There's tons of exploring to do, whether it's simple quests, or doing professions, or vendoring for new skills, or just grinding. In particular, the first dungeon stands out, where you get some crafting materials you'll use to get keys to open further dungeon paths. I loved finding small secrets like this when I played World of Warcraft. I even love looking up the final secrets once I've found what I can.

I will admit there's some clunkiness I'd like to see resolved. For example, mining a node consists of opening your inventory, equipping a pickaxe, clicking on the rock, hitting auto attack, and then reequipping your weapon when you're out of nodes. In addition, autoattacking does feel chunky, like I'm sometimes not sure if auto attack is on. I'd love to see this more streamlined!

All that aside, I loved everything Erenshor is offering. It's a perfect little simulation, if you can put on your glasses of that time. I don't think it's for everyone, but it's 1000% for me, and I can't wait for more!
