OUTLAST with guns-UPDATED !

With a buzzing lore that waits to expand, exciting game.

TL-DR...........ADDICTIVE IMMERSIVE GAME ! !

The lore seems to me the part of this game where the developers have the potential for expansion.
Leaving me to sympathize how difficult it may be the attempt to squeeze into a campaign what appears to be
a mystery & a story untold. I remain wanting. (if you can imagine a game say like GENERATION ZERO with
it's 'almost' continuously evolving single player campaign-i have desire for this game to be like that,
& at time of writing am not sure how much of that we shall actually see THERE IS MASSIVE POTENTIAL
FOR THAT. The question remains are the DEV's gonna do it, give us a full blown campaign???)


The world of HUNT SHOWDOWN,
it makes me think of the stories told around the fire during the NORTH/SOUTH CIVIL WAR revolution of UNITED STATES, what spooked them ALL coming to life. The era feels like something from that time. Reference to OUTLAST
was made to the look of the game, the horror element, & there are is NIGHT in the day-night cycle here.

Current bosses;
-SPIDER (a massive spider)
-the ASSASSIN (a zombie like creature that travels by fly/bee)
-the BUTCHER (a crazed massive-possibly by trade BUTCHER, big fat bloke)
-*now SCRAPBEAK (an evil genius of a boss that hammers you with BARBED wire)

If above mentions make you think of anything special or UNIQUELY known say like 'Jack o lantern, which would be
a something/some1 most of us can imagine as haunting lore from AMERICA, above mentioned bosses are simply created
& have no historical mention at all.

THE GENRE OF THE GAME IS HORROR SURVIVAL, & you're a hunter hunting the bosses presented (PVE) competing against other teams in doing so (PVP).

ENDGAME
So you kill the boss & retrieve the bounty for doing so beyond the other teams ability YOU'RE THEN THE WINNER here.
-game is played in matches & even though there is freedom during 'The Hunt' to explore the matches are time limited.

Possibly I may get scrutinized for saying this though in my opinion the controls feel clunky;
-your avatar if a standard pick feels like a farmhand trying to save itself, a person with little skill,
if you choose the higher level recruits there is supposed to be more skill & the game has an RPG style
skill up system, you lose your recruit if it dies in-game, if your recruit survives it has possibility to expand itself
with RPG style skill level up. The rule remains the higher your level if your RECRUIT is lost they are gone forever,
DLC is available & certain in game repeat-recruits (that do tend towards DLC-LIKE characters, 'THE NIGHT ACOLYTE', 'THE SEER', then the standard pick have names like Henry Rous OR any other, here is your farmhand feeling I was speaking of).

Your range of weaponry is available though limited;
-revolvers, (the magazine fed are a FEW, WWI, mauser is available after lengthy level up, & in game is costly to use)
-rifles, (variants sniper like, if you're thinking the winchester you're on track, bolt action, with, without scopes)
-shotguns,
-crossbows, big & small..
-improvised weapons, (a belt fed pistol, a SEMI AUTOMATIC RIFLE converted to FULL auto,
-different ammunitions to be unlocked all round as you play & use favorites
-traps of all sorts, poisonous grenades, flash grenades, stun, frags, throw the gas lantern,

NOTICE THAT MOST OF THE ABOVE PART OF THE REVIEW REFERS TO BOUNTY HUNT

The game has modes, there's BOUNTY HUNT, (where you hunt a selection of above bosses usually 2 of them, & battle enemy players in the world hunting the same bosses PVP)

QUICK PLAY, a mode that places you in the world with vastly limited resources from start, (this too shows PVP elements)

& TRIALS, this is a PVE experience & ''the opportunity'' to explore the maps without the factor of PVP. Here is an opportunity to make bloodbonds.

(So, I have tried all modes = my description of quick play is THAT it's another THING TOTALLY, you N E E D to play it...(if you're like me playing Bounty Hunt, mostly....YOU-NEED-2-PLAY QUICKPLAY the G A M E is REBORN most of my gameplay had been Bounty Hunt focused) The NATURE & SCOPE of the game changes with QUICK-PLAY, gone is the SPIDER/BUTCHER/SCRAPBEAK/ASSASSIN. It was for me an exercise that WORKED wonders for my gameplay. I have improved in leaps & bounds from my few hours of playing QUICK-PLAY..we all differ maybe it won't be so for you.

This game is set in 1895, I Believe. The American Civil War took place in 1861-65. BIG difference.

I get that but the day night cycle thing could be applied to Minecraft, as both Hunt and Minecraft have a day night cycle. I undertand what you mean in terms of the atmosphere created i just think Outlast isnt exactly what i feel when i play this game, but hey thats just me

A lot of Outlast is played at night, as you look through the lens OF the camera you carry that makes things in the dark clearer to you, i mentioned that HUNT has a day-night cycle. The eerie feeling shared by the 2 games is what I was touching on, & here it was kinda' a relief to get a gun & fight back, NOT so in OUTLAST.

Id probably disagree with the outlast comparison, nothing is really like outlast, you mention the timeperiod and even then outlast is modern while this is civil war era
