The world:

-The game is built similar to The Outer Worlds: Small to big zones inside a bigger world.

-In 12 hours i'm still in the starter zone, which is full of nooks and crannies, caverns and high ledges to explore. All stuffed with loot and enemies.

-The movement is fast and fast travel is free and quick from camps to travel beacons. It makes the many quest you get easy to access and complete.

-The graphics and art style are great and runs perfect on my 3070 at high/very high settings
NPCs are a bit uncanny to be honest and most lack a real personality but some more important people are outstanding.

-There is no criminality system whatsoever. Sometime you have a dialogue choice to attack NPCs instead of talking it out. It's alright but i feel that i have less freedom than in The Outer Worlds. You can't attack anyone or the animals and you feel it. I guess i'm just a sicko that thirst for blood.

-Enemies and stuff don't respawn. This game is heavily story based and linear in a sense. You won't have a reason to come back to the starter zone. Don't expect to play this game forever with the same character.

The crafting

-The crafting is bare bone but it works. You use basic material to upgrade your common weapons to higher tiers.

-There is 3 steps per tier and 4 to 5 tiers depending on the weapon. The skin of the upgraded weapon change when it is of better quality which is something that i like. Legendary weapon have fixed skins.

-You find plenty of loot and legendary stuff quite often and everything can be dismantled for materials.
Basic materials can be combined to make higher tier material.

-You can cook food and drinks there is a vast and confusing amount of consumables that you can craft, including grenades.

The combat

-My favorite part of the game is the combat. On the highest difficulty you have to use every aspect of your build. It reminds me of Might and Magic: Dark Messiah.

-You can combine shields with pistols and wands and daggers and spellbooks and spears and whatever and create some weird classes. Cast an entanglement spell then throw an ice grenade and finish him with an arquebus headshot. Turn invisible and cast an ice storm then dual melee these weaklings with fire sword and dagger, dodge backward and whip the survivors with some maestro wand shenanigans.

Overall the game is fast and feel a lot like an arcade rpg/fps. The story so far is very cheesy, it's the classic 'wow you are so special'. I don't feel that politic is shoved down my throat, just like BG3. But the wokeness can be felt. Something that i don't really care about. Left of Right does not matter to me: y'all monkeys throwing their own crap at eachother.
To be honest i rarely give a f**k about the story in a game. What i like about games is to experiment with the mechanics on the highest difficulty and this game delivers for now.

Wait for a modest sale. I feel that this game is not big enough for the price tag.

New UI is a horrible mess. Bring back something similar to the old one.

My game crash when opening the map during a banish.

Horrible frame drop.

Constant sound glitches.

Lag.

Only 3 hours in and i'm hooked.

It's a very good mix of the old Resident Evil game (fight and resources management) on sega saturn and Dark Souls mechanics (NPC interaction, questing and resources management)

-The atmosphere the art and music is on point.
-Resources management and crafting is fun.
-Merchant and 'service providers' is fun.
-Cursed state mechanic. Fun and challenging to balance your cursed level for benefits.
-Gimmicky items and tools to extend your survival, run away or win a fight

The fighting is a bit stiff but as i said it is a reminder of the feeling of stress you would get when cornered in that old Resident Evil game.

Every night that you die you lose everything but your level. It permanently increase the game difficulty (more/new ennemies) but there is a game mechanic where you can save a pool of items and equipment. This pool can be expanded and there is some way to reset your night without dying, at a cost, until you die for good then it reset the cost.
Also there is some permanent equipment unlock and mechanics unlock that persist throughout your runs.

Don't miss out on this one, even at full price. If you are a fan of roguelikes and Dark Soulish atmosphere/mechanics this game is for you.

Also there is lore.
-Lore?
-YES. LOOOOORE.

This review will be quick and simple.

You don't know s**t about games if you can't go through this.
If you can't go through this it's like saying ''i love music'' but you are stuck on just one tune playing on repeat forever until you fu**ing die.

There is nothing there. Nothing new at least.

Pros:
-Gears of War on crack.

Cons:
- Can't play coop. Tried everyday for several minutes to join random party or leave my game open. No luck.
- Grinding is useless. Even tho the game is kinda hard (because it's a solocoop game, tu dum tss) I didn't need to replay any side quests. I guess grinding only serve those who likes maths.
- The only grinding you will do, is wake up at 6am and go to work to refill your wallet.
- Automatically crash if someone join the steam broadcast.

For me it is too late for a refund. Save yourself.
