Great 4x space game. Has some nice econ sim elements and is stunning to look at, the graphics are outstanding as is the music.
There are some bugs to be aware of but they get patched eventually.
I recommend all the DLC except Penumbra and Awakening, they are not worth it right now (hacking is annoying and the game is more enjoyable without it and the Academy changes in Awakening need a drastic overhaul) but may be fixed in the future.
This is the kind of game you start playing and realise 4 hours has passed, amazing value for money.

One of the best space strategy games that exists currently. Makes you think strategically and tactically which is a big positive for these games. Also has incredible immersion, hours pass without you noticing.

However, the DLC's are necessary for the full experience. The cost of all the DLC's are quite expensive, but wait for sales to get them all quite cheap.
Paradox also has a development strategy of slowly changing/improving the game over many years, this can result in features that are liked being potentially removed. This can be frustrating for players.

Other than my personal issues with the Paradox business/development model, the actual game in its current state is absolutely a buy and positive recommendation.
