I strongly suggest that you don't buy this game.

There's an interesting game buried here, but it's very inaccessible. The achievements show how few people who start playing it get very far.

It doesn't teach you how to play and the forum on Steam is too dead to be much help. There is a Paradox forum, that rejected my account without saying why, which given that I'm a paying customer, is disgusting and tantamount to theft.

I feel ripped off by Paradox Games. I'll certainly think twice before purchasing from them again.

29% of people who paid money for this game complete the easiest level "Cakewalk"
17% complete the next level "More Pain"

Still the reviews say "very positive". I think what this shows it that this is a very niche game that some people will like.

Pros:
Great creepy graphics, much like Darkest Dungeon.
A chance to build your own squad exploring different synergies. There are lots of potentially interesting interactions between minions.

Cons:
I found the game dull and grindy. I found it too difficult to finish "More Pain" even with help from the (almost but not quite dead) discussion forum. As I point out above, 83% of people who purchase the game never get through "More Pain", so my experience is not unusual. There's very little guidance on what you need to do, either from the game or from elsewhere, and much of the advice is obsolete.

This is an awesome RPG for history fans. You get to take your legionary through the Punic War with Carthage and beyond to the conquest of Greece. If you do well, you get more points to build your character next time through. It was great fun to play through the same events, being more competent each time.

The only thing I didn't like is negative advancement, where if you do a crappy job, or get unlucky, you get less points the next time around.

This is a real gem of an independent game. It is by far he best rock band simulator I have come accross. The hours I've played make it easily worth the money.

As small independent game, it is definitely rough around the edges. But what it lacks in sleek production values, it makes up for in originality and fun. I was very sorry to learn that development has been discontinued as there is plenty of potential here for more.

As other reviewers have pointed out, replay value is not high after you learn how to beat the game, but that is true of lots of fine RPG games and other games.

In short, if you like the idea of playing rock musician, you definitely need to give Rock God Tycoon a try. I'll certainly be on the lookout to see if there are any more updates, despite the discontinued development. The bottom line is that nobody has done the rock band sim better.

The game is great. I would spend money on it if the cards were cheaper.
