I'm so in awe of this game!

I bought it upon release, but had a bit lacking hardware, spent hours on the benchmark screen, and restarted many times doing the same few mission over and over, and never got into it properly, and it seemed to be not quite my style as it seemed to be mainly a shooter game.

Now I've finally started playing properly about a month ago (had 40 hours played before starting fresh! Some of that must have been for running the game in the background, I suspect), and I'm completely hooked! Such a detailed world, all the different ways to do the missions (stealth and netrunning is amazing), awesome graphic and sound and general atmosphere. Great stories / writing and mission design. I'm completely immersed. Not been this immersed since Bethesda's old Morrowind, I think (first RPG I played).

I was pretty hooked on Starfield recently after that was released, and liked that as well (unlike many others, I've noticed :lunar2019grinningpig:), but this game is in a completely different ballpark! :104:

Beautiful game. Story, graphics, artwork, music, sound effects, puzzle design all top notch. The best adventure I've been on in a long time.

Beautiful art and graphics, interesting gameplay, good story. More interactive story than looking for clues and solving puzzles, but fun and cleverly done.

At first a bit skeptical when discovering that a considerable part of the gameplay consisted of time-limits and countdowns and "die and try again"-mechanics, I ended up enjoying the game very much. Beautiful scenery, graphics, music and immersive sound effects makes this game very atmospheric, and I also liked the story.

And after mostly playing non-stress games for most of my adult life I discovered that having some adrenaline bursts from time to time can be refreshing!

Unexpected and delightful gem. Simply explore a well written story being told from all perspectives. You can select 'follow' on any of the characters, and sit back and watch the chapters or sections at will, pausing and rewinding.

It's written in an Agatha Christie style, it's in a large mansion on a small private island. It's night, and guess what? There is a thunderstorm. Oh, and a murder.

All the characters are well choreographed, and if you take the time to just sit and watch a character for a while, you'll notice that they react to other sounds and events in the scene, even when they appear to be doing nothing for several minutes and is otherwise not relevant to the story. A stray umbrella is involved in one such example.

No gameplay involved, only a good story with great atmosphere and voice acting. Explorers will be rewarded with achievements, as well as the in game objectives, which is mainly collecting things.

One of the few games I have all achievements for, since I normally don't go for them. Here they just popped up while doing old-school exploring and clicking (plus a guide for the 2 I missed).

Crisp, clean graphics, immersive sounds (played in normal, not VR).

52 hours already, and I'm totally hooked. Like I've finally found what I was looking for, however dramatic that sounds.

I've no recent relationship to other hunting sims, but this world is so immersive I'm in constant awe.

I grew up in the country-side (until age 7) with wilderness around and deer eating my mother's vegetable garden (fond memories of her with the broom chasing them), and as a Norwegian you have to like the outdoors whether you want to or not, so there was a lot of hiking school trips and cross-country skiing and boy-scouts and all that, up to the point I started hating it and found my calling as a couch potato.

Now to be that couch potato and experience this world, which looks very realistic in my eyes, I've gotten a newfound love for nature without having constant wet clothes and toilet paper.

I love how this game plays, the freedom. There is no pressure and you can do what you want. And the interaction between the animals is so amazing to just sit and observe. The accurate sounds from the animals and the eerie atmosphere in forests and such.

Very pleasantly surprised!

(Reading this review again now is a reminder I'll update it later, but for now I wanted to add that I voted this for Game of the Year '22)

I just noticed that this is one of my most played games on Steam, even though I haven't played it since 2013, so I thought I'd say a few words:

GET IT!

Seriously, this and its predecessor (and Morrowind) kind of set the standard for RPGs for me. I was completely drawn into the world, and could sit on a hilltop and just watch the sunset with Rex (the dog)...

So if you haven't played this yet, you should give it a try, if you like post-apocalyptic 'lone wolf' kind of games.

I grew up with Commodore 64 and Amiga computers in the 80's, and games like the Monkey Island series and even text adventures(!). This game is like coming back to those days.

I'm also Norwegian, and I can so relate to the beers! Almost everyone I know are brewing their own beer these days (but not me. I just drink it), and some of the bars here (Stavanger) have like 250 different kinds of beer, like in this game. I kid you not!

The humour is hilarious. One of the first things I read somewhere in the game was

"Beer is good. Beers are better. (Chinese Proverb)"

If silly stuff like that makes you smile, this is for you!
