Before writing this review, I'd like to thank PsychoGugus for gifting me this game. I started this game not knowing anything about it, I thought of myself as a sort of "hardcore" horror game player and was thinking I would encounter the usual horror tropes. Boy was I wrong. The game starts off pretty straightforward, with the MC getting settled in the scenery, with a lot of tidbits that you can find in the form of notes and other items that flesh out the world and other characters pretty damn good. The story itself is very interesting, the devs nailed the atmosphere of dread and fear pretty good in most scenes. Visually, the game is gorgeous as heck, sometimes you can get lost in the scenery and just take a moment to take it all in. The jump scares are pretty neat, they are timed perfectly. The only issue I had with the game is the rather numerous number of puzzles to complete, after a while it becomes too tedious and can somewhat impact the immersion, tough some people might enjoy them more, it's just personal taste here. Another plus is the game's ending, or rather endings, as there are more than 2 , and they are somewhat grizzly but because they diverge from the stereotypical happy ending is what makes this game really stand out. Overall I'd give this game a solid 8 and recommend it if you want to spend a few hours being really terrified out of your minds.

It's a pretty great follow up to the other 2 games, story is great, combat is amazing, would recommend.

As I am writing this review I have about 4 hours in the game.I have never in my entire life laughed and shat myself at the same time for 4 hours straight.Good stuff, 20/10.

I have a question for you, dear reader. Do you dream? Do you sometimes let your thoughts wonder, the infinite possibilities of man into space? Do you sometimes, when you close your eyes and sleep, dream of distant stars and planets? You would like to visit them, to tread upon they're soil and marvel at the wonders they have to offer.I know you would. What if you no longer dreamed? What if, you could actually go there, what if you could actually explore hundreds of systems, planets and more, so much more. It all starts with a single step.All you have to do is reach out, reach out for the stars.

Ok no more cheesy stuff, this game will suck you in, it will make you want to explore allot and there is allot to see, don't mistake the game for Space Engineers, it's not that. Having almost 450 hours in the game by now I can safely say I won't be tired of the game anytime soon.You can explore, craft your own ships, battle aliens or other players.Interface is good but can be better. I'd give this game 9000 out of 10, that's how good it is.

Edit, as of 1.07.2018 got over 1k and the game is still as fun as the first time I purchased it. Recommend playing on the HWS Servers, they are the biggest ones at the moment in the game. Friendly admins and awesome community.

Extra edit, as of 11.04.2021 and the game has has been updated a lot, the Unknown Skyes server (USG) is probably the most enjoyable at the moment , it's a great alternative to HWS, it runs the Eden Reforged scenario that adds a ton of items and game play options. The community on USG is very friendly and admins are real bros. Hop in and check it out for a bit.

On a faithful Monday morning I had received a message from superior. Even before hearing his voice I could feel the tension on the other side of the phone. Something had happened. We where under attack by horrible creatures that where killing or abducting civilians in every major city on the globe.It seems so overwhelming at first.Who where these creatures? Where did they come from and, most importantly, why did they attack us in the first place? All of these thought where swirling in my mind as went to meet my supperior.Little did I know what was in store for me at the time. We had arrived in an incredible underground complex, filled with the most amazing tech ever conceived by the human mind. Men and women, all in they're prime greeted us, my superior and me. It is then that he revealed that I was to become commander of this underground base and that my primary objective will be to eliminate the creatures that have been ravaging our cityes.As I stood there, listening to my superiors' words, looking at all the people gathered before me, all of them placing they're trust, they're very lives in my hands, I decided that I will do whatever it takes to get as many of them as I can trough this conflict. I knew the risks involved, that many will die in this war, but I would at least make they're deaths count.

As time went on, many battles where fought and lost. Many brave men and women died valiantly on the battlefield.I remembered each and every one of them, kept they're memory in my heart and promised to avenge them. In the end, the war was won by us. As I stood in the rubles of our cities, I wondered if the price for victory was worth it, that the lives lost by my actions where the right thing to do, that every decision that I had made was, in the end, worth it.
Many thoughts haunted my as I finally made my way back to my old home. The house was still standing, and it still had power. As I made my way up to my room I realized that everything was undisturbed, as if no one bothered to enter my house after all this time. As I sat down at my desk I tried to turn on my computer. To my surprise the old thing still worked fine, the monitor buzzed back to life, and with a little happiness, mixed with nostalgia I started to play XCOM once again.

So many things to say about this game...when I bought this game i wasn't expecting much, but boy was I wrong.The ammount of details and the story trully epic to say the least.A lot of love, dedication and soul was put into this masterpiece.To the guys at Frictional Games, I salute you all and I f'ing love each and every one of you for making a game that got me hooked from start to finnish.
