Still one of the best arcade shooters ever made.
Zombie mode and solo campaign are still worth to be played today.
Beware of multiplayer matchmaking though, as the netcode is largely unsafe by now and full of hackers and cheaters.
Buy this for solo or friendgroup only.

As someone who bought and played the original version on switch i was very hesitant to pay another full price for an upgraded version. After around 3 hours of playtime i have to admit: This new version is worth buying for full price all over again. The amount of new stuff is staggering and everything that already existed has been reworked or expanded upon.

Almost hat to say it, but Atlus taking another 60 bucks for an "old" game is justified in this instance.

The pc port supports high resolutions and framerates as well. Even the prefered button layout and labeling regarding your gamepad of choice can be changed freely in the games menu.
Nothing to complain here.

A unique and beautiful game masterfully done by capcom.
Gameplay is a blend of Pikmin and after you unlock the skill tree (around 5 hours in) Devil May Cry.
Animations and overall artstyle are gorgious, as is the music. Highly recommended.

Have to revise my review after many more hours of playtime:
This is a legitimately fun and addictive game. At its core its a third person looter shooter with many different "hero" characters to choose from, all sporting very different gameplay styles.
What would be considered post game grind and item farming in other games is the main gameplay loop in The First Descendant. Youll repeat the same missions and kill the same enemies and bosses a hundred times over always looking for rare drops.
If you liked doing boss runs in diablo this is your game.
The strange thing is: The grinding and dumb repeating of the same missions over and over is very fun.
Normally i would hate this type of game, but to be honest, im highly motivated to put more hours into it.
Its free and i think its probably a blast to play with your friends if you dont mind playing something thats just dumb fun.

The game is really fun right now and worth the price of admission, in my oppinion. That said its obviously not feature complete. Certain classes miss there skills. Like the Trapper clown. And some weapons seem unbalanced.
Still, theres 5 big maps and whats here makes for quite some variety and fun situations. More fun than DBD but less competitive for sure.
Its up to the devs and the publisher now to further develop a solid foundation.

From all the games running on my pc this is the only only one just crashing after 10 minutes and telling me: "You dont own enough RAM."
What? According to other users thats a known bug that hasnt been fixed since forever. Refund.

Game was sold under the pretense that steam is the only copyright protection.
Now that Helldivers 2 has grown immensly popular Sony forces a NECESSARY PSN Account on everyone.
The same corporation that got hacked and had multiple proven incurrences of data theft since 2010 and never did anything about it.
Players in countries that cant even make PSN Accounts like ukraine will not be able to play the game anymore as of 5.6.24.
These are downright hostile business practices that i wont support. Shame on Arrowhead for going along with that crap.
I certainly wont create a PSN Account and would advise anyone to request a refund until this gets sorted out.

60% pure gold, 40% cheap jank.
For people who like the pinball structure of Call of Duties Zombie mode this is the only alternative though its hold back by lackluster sound design, bad performance, cheap looking animations and sometimes strange music choices.
This could become something special if the devs manage to polish everything up over the next few months.
After having a look at this devs history and how the early access went, i highly doubt this game will go anywhere. Which is a shame to be honest. This could easily become a game with its own community like Dead by Daylight given the right dev support.
Right now its just "surprisingly ok" for what it is and what it costs.

Early Access Review
One of the most ambitious games i played in a while.
Nightingale is classic open world survival in which you can craft and modify your own worlds. The crafting system itself is highly complicated and complex. Almost every piece of furniture matters. For example, if your sewing bench is in the vincinity of a candle (light), a fire (warmth), is build on a wooden floor and protected by a roof AND maybe there is a treasure map hanging right above it, you can not only work faster, it will produce higher quality products AND you will beable to craft explorer clothes because of the treasure map. Material itself is also taken into consideration. Products can look and behave slightly different depending on which items you used to make them.

There are items to loot and upgrade, infuse with passive powers or charms. There are magic spells to learn.
Most of the tools not only are for gathering stuff, but also serve multiple functions. A sickle can not only do slashing damage but also lets you do a dodge jump, the umbrella will let you float, the climbing hooks can let you reach high places etc...

Nighingale is a procedually generated infinite sandbox filled to the brim with convoluted systems and stuff that can be learned or upgraded. The game often time doesnt care if you figure out how to do something or if you are able to find the dungeon exit which makes it a special but often times frustrating experience. In that regard it reminds me of the late Elite:Dangerous. Lots of grinding, lots of discovery, all guided by the missions the player sets for her/himself.

That said the game is in "early" early access right now. There is network issues, bugs and glitches and almost everything in the game feels like its only the foundation for things to come.
Will be interesting to see where this game is in a year from now.
