A Plague Tale: Innocence is an adventure game about surviving the horrors of the plague. The story is set in medieval France, a dark age where the Inquisition hunts down heretics, alchemists and anyone else which falls upon their fanatical gaze. You take the role of a young noble girl, Amicia de Rune, the daughter of a local lord. As she was walking her dog one day, Amicia stumbles upon a dark hole in the forest, not knowing it to be one of many foul sources of infestation. From that moment on, it seems like the whole world has turned to chaos. In a tragic turn of events, she is forced to flee her home, taking her little brother Hugo with her. The disease that many call 'the Bite' is unlike any other malady known to man. While it isn't the plague from actual historic events, it's something much more sinister, as you and your little brother will soon find out.
As you can see from the screenshots, APT: Innocence looks absolutely stunning. From dirty streets of the city to lush forests and picturesque villages, the world of 14th Century France is depicted flawlessly. The game has a strong grim atmosphere and the story is pretty decent too. Characters are portrayed realistically and almost feel like real people at times. Gameplay mostly consist of solving puzzles and overcoming obstacles of all kinds. Most of the situations can be solved by different means, which is something upon I congratulate the developers. There are plenty of enemies, which you'll mostly dispose of by using your wits instead of brute force. Amicia is only armed with a sling, but you'll get access to other useful tools during the game. You can also upgrade your equipment by using scrap materials you find lying around. Aside from those, you'll also find some collectibles from time to time, mostly flowers and various junk. These items have no purpose, but each one tells a little story about life in medieval times. Sadly, the game is relatively shallow and you'll discover all the tricks it has to offer in a matter of hours. Bearing that in mind, it's good that it only lasts for about 15 hours, since it would probably become repetitive if the story was any longer.

A Plague Tale: Innocence is a solid game in every aspect, although graphics are its strongest suit. If you like linear adventure games, you won't go wrong with this one.
