to start off with, I never played mudrunner or snowrunner. I'm coming into this game with no experience. I have also finished all 3 missions.

my main issue is the obstacles dont have any weight to them. for example, the 2nd mission where you need to clear the road of obstacles and debris, you dont even need to use the cranes. you can simply push everything out of the way with the truck itself. from the small oil barrels to the cars and even the shipping containers. they can all be pushed using the trucks at the same speed. i feel i should not be able to simply move a boulder with a truck. i should have to either use a crane to pick it up or push it with a plow.

second item, the mulcher in the 1st mission gets stuck on invisible obstacles. that issue made it completely useless. the smallest incline in the terrain would not allow a truck on tracks to get any traction to get to a stump.

third item, mostly immersion breaking is the fact you can fill up the dump truck way too far away from the quarry. i can understand if this is a feature for the demo to save time. i just hope this will be re-balanced for the main game.

apart from those issues i really enjoyed this demo. very nice scenery and world building. i can tell a disaster has occurred. the driving is simple enough. the water physics are very nice to watch when pouring sand in or even just driving through. one suggestion i would have is to add a day/night cycle to be able to use the headlights while driving.

DO NOT BUY. CURRENTLY UNPLAYABLE

since the recent dlc update (floating cities), the game crashes as soon as you load into a save file. previous dlc updates would introduce various bugs as well that soft-locked progression in dismantling the ships. but this update made it UNPLAYABLE. it is a trend with this game that every update released WILL break the game in some capacity, but this is by far the worst it has gotten.

with the pattern this game dev team has presented this far, the next update(s) will only get worse. i cant recommend anyone to invest into this game. best to look elsewhere. if you have that ship breaking itch, i would recommend Hardspace: Shipbreaker instead.

(edit)
Response to the developer:
the last update made to the game was december 13th 2024. i attempted to play the game on december 17th 2024. at the time of this edit/response (december 31st 2024), there has been 0 updates to fix any and all issues. there is 0 incentive to play a game that DOES NOT WORK.

this game was left abandoned for many years until recently. mind you for a game that came out in 2017, it ran ok. no the best optimisation but it was playable. new devs walk in and take over the development of the game.

1st thing they do: add in obsolete content in a broken state. ( they added a little dune buggy with no hitch or bed to place stuff to carry with you.)

2nd thing they do: state that an optimisation patch is coming. ( that statement turned out to be a bold faced lie.)

3rd thing they do: announce a re-name of the game (not they're fault, discovery was ending the licensing agreement for the game. understandable. for reference it use to be called: Gold Rush: The Game)
and in said announcement they also tease at a sequel to the game and new dlcs later in 2024

4th thing they do: add a new dlc that is broken before launch and try to do damage control. also begging for understanding that "they are a new dev team and vewy vewy sowwy".

in conclusion, these "new" dev know exatly what they are doing. they are turning this game into a cash cow and milking it dry all the while feigning ignorance to it. dont give these milk drinkers any money. if they want to make a good game (and good money to) then they need to fix the game and and stop behaving like spoiled brats begging for forgiveness to they're ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

until that happens, Hydroneer is a way better mining sim game and also has a new dlc (reasonably priced) that respects the players time and money. honestly give that game a go.

the dlc ships are riddles with bugs. frustratingly annoying bugs. you cannot pick up vents, pipes, wires that are already on the ground/about to fall off. some part stay floating in the air without any connecting parts to the hull of the ship itself. blue connection points that need to be hammered are floating in the air instead of being on the part it belongs to. other blue connection points are almost hidden/hard to reach because of terrible placement. just to name a few.

this dlc definitely feels rushed to make a quick buck. and it feels like co-op mode is more important than fixing bugs.

in the current state of the game, i cant recommend the dlc. just stick to the base game.
should have listened to the other reviews

P.S. cant wait to see the cookie cutter "dev" response left for another negative review

the devs want to complain that the players are review bombing them. its not review bombing if the player base is expression VALID critisism about the game and the derection its heading. the player base has the right to be heard, wich is why they are expressing themselve on steam where gaijin CANT delete negative reviews. everyone know they delete negetive comments and posts related to them or the game. WE have had enough. ACCTUALLY make the game better for THE PLAYERS and maybe (just a thought here), just maybe people will play the game and leave a good review. such a alien concept im sure.

this game has in interesting concept. story is mediocre at best. gunplay is ok and infuriating at the same time. the AI is just mind boggling and downright disgusting. i want to enjoy this game, but i just cant. almost every aspect or game mechanic is just doing more harm of the game than good. some examples:
-switching between items/weapons wont register for a few seconds of using/reloading the item in hand.
-hitting the reload key doesn't work for a few seconds after you stop firing (resulting in spamming the reload key till it decides to work)
-when you throw a flare, the 1st millisecond you start attacking a robot it will target you without any visual queue or logic. i.e. harvesters who's body are pointed at a flare will fire its rocket salvo at you before it turn back towards you.
-if you enter combat in the middle of open terrain against 1 group of bots, for some reason more and more bots keep appearing out of nowhere to the point you end up fighting wave after wave or bots that only started off at 3-4.
the large bots will constantly group up to the point where they are colliding with each others walking paths and get stuck beside each other.
-and many, many other issues.

IMO, this game just feels half baked a state of where you can "play" this game but the direction of the game is absent. It feels like the dev team don't even know what this game is suppose to be, leaderless, no identity. just a huge disappointment.

70$ for a game that was just launching. a game that launched alongside a roadmap, bugs, terrible balancing... i played the campaign since i like playing single player rts. tried out multiplayer week 1-2 after launch. waited 30 mins in queue. no game. when i did find a game, just get bum rushed by terrible balancing. so there went the multiplayer gameplay for me. decided to play the campaign again for ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles and im greeted with a small note basicly begging the players to give this game a positive review and to spread word of this game... the game was on life support at launch. now its almost in the coffin. Dont go begging players to like your game. Just make the game before you start selling an overpriced beta version.

It's a fun game and all. Huge learning curve. But ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, theres are almost 3-4 updates a day on this game. Just finish installing an update, 5 minutes later another gig update to do. Never have i had a game that spams updates like this. Its not easy dowloading this poop with 5mbps speeds. Had i know there were this many i would started playing fortnite a lot sooner.
