Yes, I recommend this.

I had tons of fun in my 8 hours that i spent with this game! the tracks are amazing, the gameplay is fun, and its an overall blast! Each weapon is viable from start to finish, so the only way to get better weapons is to get good yourself, which I enjoyed.

I played the game 90% of the way through on Beast mode, the hardest difficulty, i turned it down to Goat, the middle difficulty, after the last level was to nerve racking, since if you die once you lose all progress on said level. Plus enemies have massive HP bloat so any elites or stronger monsters just take so long to kill.
Please nerf stalkers I am in pain

The game is short, without a lot of replayability IMO, since the campaign is said to be at most 2.5 hours by other reviews. The extra challenges to unlock upgrades could all be done in another hour and a half tops (?) I'd reckon. Speaking of such, I turned the difficulty down because some challenges were just to difficult for me to get through. That being time constraints followed by bloated HP pools made some challenges un-fun to do, like Giant Slayer 2 and 3.

Despite all my complaints, I had a lot of fun learning this game and learning the rhythms to it! It has a neat lil story to it that hints at what *could* be a second game, but I'm not sure we will see light of such. I do recommend this to anyone who love metal, shooting demons, and of course, rhythm games.

At a current $30 price tag, I personally am looking at $3/hour if I wanted to 100% this game (I'm guessing 10 hours total, from where I sit now to get the "never miss a beat" achievement, which I do not care enough about to grind out), which could be done in far less time in all reality.

Do not get this wrong! Buy this game and play it!

Early Access Review
I demoed This at PAX West 2021 and I loved it. Bought it day one of early release and loved it more! They kept all of the core mechanics from the demo and expanded more upon it. This game is fast paced, a bit gory, and hard (on the higher difficulties). Gun-play is fantastic and effectively quick-switching to melt heavies feels great. The graphics are fantastically stylized and the game is just funny. Comical cut-scenes and flipping the bird at many opportunities is just great. This game does have a story to it but it is like most other games in this genre, that being it is totally optional to listen to and you just gotta shoot the pretty colors.

My mains gripes are:
-Reloading a level or quitting the game and pressing continue will put you on the lowest difficulty possible with no apparent way to change it back. Meaning you must do all your game-play in one sitting and start new missions from the chapter selection menu after closing it. I did beat the game on Bring Me Pain (after a few resets due to mentioned issue)
-The shops seem to be sorta whatever, not all to needed to have added in the game but they exist to fulfill their purpose, possibly turn down the volume of the noises it makes as it can be annoying.
-To many augments and not enough ways to use them. In the first "chapter" you can get tons of body augments that change how you do certain things, you rapidly get to many and have no use for most of them.
-Last level has an odd intended path, first it seems that you jump on the floating cars and fight enemies, but then you cant go any further and the jump pad shoots you up to the ceiling to instantly die and jumping to the train from here sticks you in an infinite death-loop. I then found out that you have to scale the train top to go to the next arena.
-A lack of apparent ammo at the final boss? You have 2 pairs of guns that share shotgun ammo for one pair or heavy bullets for the other, which limits your ammo pool to realistically 3 different weapons. The ammo you are given didn't seem to cut it for the boss which led to me to get creative with my chainsaw slides to take it out. May just be me being bad.

All of these are fairly minor in the scheme of things and can be either disregarded or not encountered. Part of it is just feedback for the devs, bugs or not.

Overall I'd recommend this game if you want a blast of big guns, stylish kills, fast mobility, and a helluva time! It is well worth the purchase!

This is one of my favorite games, period. I LOVED the original DL 1 and put near 280+ hours into it with multiple playthroughs. This game does so much the original game did and then improves on it, looting is quick and easy, lockpicking is great, combat has excelled along with parkour. You feel like a total badass just moving roof to roof at mach 10 then dropkicking a zombie down 15 stories. You can block enemies attacks and follow up with brutal moves, you can use lots of the environment to your advantage, and its just a massive dopamine hit. Combine this with reactive music that picks up as you do parkour moves plus verbal encouragement from Aiden when you hit a string of killer moves and you just feel amazing.

-There are a few critiques I have with the game though. Sometimes enemies just release a flurry off attacks that cannot be stopped (even with a power attack) and if you dont run or dodge at the perfect moments, you just eat 3-4 high powered attacks. May just be me being bad, but it is annoying.
-Headshots with ranged weapons dont insta kill, you need to put a few arrows or crossbow bolts into an enemies head to kill them. This may be due to me not specing into archer armour, but regardless a bit silly.
-The intro is a slog on repeated playthroughs. The mandatory bits with spike and the first banshee along withg all the pleasantries of combat introduction and hakon can get a bit mind numbing. I'm finsihed my second playthrough about 88 hours in and I want to do another, but the intro sequence is a bit detering. not to mention the starting grind to get enough inhibitors to climb for a couple second or take a hit or two.

Aside from my gripes, this game is a must buy and I have had endless fun while playing it.
