If there is a game I wish I could forget everything about so I could play fresh again, it's this one. Even with its shortcomings, there has been no other game that gave me that incredible power fantasy of going from a mere mortal to a being that transcends gods, and you feel that growth of strength in the gameplay, not just from bigger numbers but with what you can do.

There's a lot to discover in exploration and in ways to get stronger, there are some interesting random encounters that you won't get in some playthroughs, and you'll make many mistakes until you get the gist of how to progress. The story ties in well with progression, and it'll be even more appealing if you already have some Wuxia knowledge.

The game had overwhelmingly positive rating for a long time, and I don't even know what caused it to go down to Mixed. Which likely means it's not for everyone. Many wouldn't even give it a chance considering what the 2d gameplay looks like, and yet for me it was quite satisfying.

This may not be a popular opinion, but if there is a sequel, I hope they can transition to a 3d open world. Even though this would add many layers of complexity, the open world of Skyrim mixed with this game's formula would probably result in one of the best games ever made.

The one notable con, is its lacking translation, the game would benefit greatly from a well done localization.

Still, if this game at least looks like something you would enjoy, definitely give it a try and you won't regret it.

It's a true shame that this game has the Nexon scythe hanging over its head. It's as if an expiring doom debuff is ticking.
But, It is worth trying, despite what so many have been saying.
There are too many biased opinions for one reason or another.

The game is beautiful, plays well and has a satisfying loop.
At the very least, try it so you can meet Bunny, one of the best characters designs I've seen in a while.
If you're on the fence, just know that the game stands on its own merits.

Early Access Review
Better than what I expected and well worth its price. Reached the end of progression in about 5 hours. The game is very simple as it takes from some of the Vampire Survivors formula, just WASD and space for controls. The music was my favorite part and the art style is also great.

Gameplay can be improved however, devs might have leaned too hard on the simplicity of it and the result is a loop that lacks variation. More depth to progression, addition of spells, more assets to interact with the environment and better control over your horde could make it far more interesting. Overall I recommend it and here's hoping updates will come soon.

Once again for the 100th time the game industry proves that playing games on release is almost guaranteed to be a mistake. From the first time I laid eyes on Potionomics I was absolutely sure that I would adore every bit of what it had to offer, after all how can something that looks so gorgeous not be an amazing experience?

Well in fact it's quite easy, you just need someone on the dev team to be a fan o time limiting mechanics, maybe even to the point it makes the game a chore to play instead of the relaxing experience it was supposed to be.

To put it simply, you're not given enough in-game time to actually enjoy the game. Potionomics probably needed more testing, some QoL changes and more than anything it needed game modes that let players choose what pace they want to play at. The current and only pacing feels like what you would get at hell or nightmare mode.

They've probably seen the numbers by now. They already know that only 27% of players made it past the first competition, so they must also know that listening to whoever thought was a good idea to make the player more stressed than the character, was a mistake.

I've failed the first competition on my first playthrough (which is game over btw) and barely managed to pass it on the 2nd, by ignoring relationships with other characters and upgrades to the shop, because what you need to get through it is for Rngesus to smile upon you.

So right now I'm 3 days away from the 2nd competition and nowhere near remotely close to getting the potions I need for it. And let's not even talk about all those request for potions with specific traits, I'm sure Rng will help on that too. So yea, I'm going to stop here, wait and pray that the updates for the game will come soon.

At the top of my list for game changes are:
- Slower pacing (More days between competitions / More time sections per day)
- Magimin filters for Quinn's shop
- List of ingredients that have been used for every completed potion
- Less RNG for Mint/Baptiste (Competition materials)
- Guaranteed drops for the more basic upgrades in the shop

To be clear, the game's presentation, characters, animations, story, sound design, all of it is A+, someone just screwed up pacing and that's why I'll still leave a positive review.

It's about time I said some things about Paradox. If I can at least open the eyes of one person, that would be enough. I'm tired of watching great games made by people with talent being ruined by grey suits that never played a game in their life.

I used to hate EA for just being the scummiest company out there, but compared to Paradox they are saints. Paradox is like that friend's girlfriend who cheats on him with everyone but being smart enough about it to never let him know. They chop off their games in a thousand pieces and sell 90% of their content as dlc. Purposefully making games feel incomplete and even removing features from the base game, so they can sell even more dlcs. And yet you see some players complimenting them for their great work, which is specially daunting. That's how clueless the average player is about what they do. And they know it. Publishers like Paradox are the reason that games as we knew them are now so rare.

The truth here is that the content you get from any of Paradox game's dlcs combined are at least ten times more than you get in the base game. Just open the page of any of their games and you'll see an endless list of overpriced dlcs. Those same games even go free to play from time to time or get huge discounts, why? Notice how their dlcs never get the same discounts as the base game, because that's how they rob players of a proper game experience. You'll always have to pay them 5-6x more to actually experience the game as intended by the talent that made them.

You got to wonder how many more great games will Paradox's leads ruin before people wake up. It unfortunately took me 3 games to realize what was happening and what they really do. So here I am trying to open some eyes, and I wish more people would do the same.

TLDR; If you can help it, do not support Paradox. If you really want to play their games, just know that what you're buying is an incomplete and intentionally flawed experience and that you'll have to pay a lot more to have the actual game.
