Unpack *.vpk files to your L4D2 addon folder:
~SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Left 4 Dead 2/left4dead2/addons/

You can also Subscribe to some workshop maps that are in use.
If you are unable to start some maps on Best Dedicated Servers, try disabling Addons until it works.

There's alot of additional content out there to be played / created.
