Early Access Review
This game is genuinely pretty bad. Just because its free doesn't mean it should be void of criticism or worth your time. You can have way better experiences in plenty of other games and while yes, they cost money, you can easily pick them up in a sale and enjoy the experience so much more than you would have in this ♥♥♥♥♥.

From the Audio (The distant gunshot pops are actually so off putting and sound genuinely terrible), player controller, weapon handling, general graphics, AI, it all leaves so much to be desired that its not even worth it. This was the first YouTuber led game I heard about... debuting to the public years ago (Back in early 2020 when they were still developing their older title Early Access title... which got abandoned) and somehow this game appears to be the least developed of them all...

That being said, I wasn't going to even bother reviewing this but the creator Bluedrake 42 has been having a literal melt down and attacking content creators threatening to sue them if they cover his game in a negative way while not disclosing they may have taken a sponsorship deal with other games in the past despite how irrelevant that is... Think of how dumb that sounds. "I'm going to sue you because you reviewed my game negatively but 9 months ago Six Days in Fallujah paid you to make a tweet on their game"

Delusional clown....

I'm absolutely hooked! This game is so damn atmospheric, I'm 56 hours in and haven't completed the main story yet, the game seems massive (I haven't even got to Pripyat yet!!) and I cant help but screenshot every cool moment and taking it all in... the zone is beautiful... and scary!

Yes there are bugs and yes the performance is terrible at points (the memory leaks down to single digit fps is really killing me) and there are definitely issues with AI/A-life and some other gripes but all that aside this is truly ending the year with a bang.

I have no doubt I will be playing this game for years to come. it's pretty much everything I wanted in a modern sequel to the originals.

Good hunting STALKER

It's a good thing I wasn't leading Easy Company during WW2, otherwise Band of Brothers would have only been 2 episodes long...

In all seriousness this DLC is fantastic! Easily some of the most enjoyable missions I have played in GoH, perhaps in GEM engine games altogether... If you're a fan of Band Of Brothers, you will love this! Be sure to check out the names of your soldiers (especially during the Carentan mission) as it will be very familiar.

The Market garden missions are really awesome too! Without spoiling too much, lets just say you get to control some interesting friendly units :)

Highly recommended!

Finally managed to sit through this and play it all the way through! (I had almost completed on disk version a year or so ago but never fully did it)

What a great game. I used a couple mods to fix things but keep everything mostly the vanilla experience and it was awesome (The mods I had were mostly QOL fixes and HD models - though I wasnt a fan of the new character models it added but the weapon models were improved without going OTT)

Now onto Clear Sky and Call of Chernobyl.... good hunting stalker.

The performance is rough and it crashes a lot, it also feels clunky, AI are dumb and OP at the same time but it's actually hella fun all in all!

I'm lowkey addicted.

Picked up this game recently after being very surprised by the 1.3 trailer on Youtube. Very happy for the algorithm to bless me with that. I had seen the game before and thought it seemed 'ok' but never gave it a proper look.

I'm pretty happy that the 1.3 trailer convinced me otherwise! This game is awesome so far! It definitely feels like an indie game but the amount of content is pretty absurd (I bought the all fronts edition) and for that alone its pretty worth it.

Pros:

-Low Price
-Lots of factions (included those not often seen in WW2 FPS games) each with unique Weapons & Vehicles
-Epic First person animations
-Explosion Audio is pretty good
-Destructible Environments
-Artillery call ins and squad dynamic is pretty cool
-Big Battles on huge maps! (seriously really impressed by how big the maps are, I get that it's like the whole campaign map in one and you play certain sections of it at a time but its awesome being in a plane over the beaches of Normandy and still being able to fly all the way to Caen etc.

Only things I think need to be improved are:

1. User Interface - This can be really obnoxious (playing with it turned off can be nice - as it still shows important interaction prompts etc but I still feel like this misses some stuff for example, not showing bandage prompt when injured). I'd just like the option to scale it down singnificantly / remove certain HUD elements as they can be too large and block important things or feel a little cheap. For example, the spotting of enemy units can be quite un-fun sometimes as your AI do this all the time and so you can know exactly where the enemy are.

2. Cancelling of actions/animations - The game can feel quite clunky because you are not allowed to 'interrupt' certain actions/animatons. E.g. Reloading and then quickly wanting to sprint. Crouching/Going prone and trying to bring out a grenade - all feel a little sluggish. Switching weapons is also super slow.

3. Inventory System - This feels way too complicated for the type of game this is. with KG weights labeled, individual Ammo and uniforms etc. I feel like this can be more simplified or atleast be presented better.

4. Some maps feel a little bare and empty compared to others - e.g. the first Makin mission felt pretty barren. I understand these atolls may not have a lot of terrain features irl but some extra rocks or fortifications as cover would be very welcomed. For example, I remember one objective area just being one sandbag wall area surrounded by grass planes with no depth or extra 'stuff' for cover and so that was pretty easy to defend. Some of the Italy maps feel the same as well.

The environments in general don't look super amazing but for £8 base game and made by a small team, it's more than acceptable.

5. Third Person animations aren't great especially compared to First Person - Though this is being worked on judging by the Dev Posts.

6. AI could always be better but again for £8, I was expecting MUCH worse! They're pretty decent tbh.

Overall Pretty amazing game so far! Wish online was more popular to see what that is like but will be playing it regardless. I'd say a solid 8/10.

Also for future campaign DLC, an Operation Bagration or Seelow Hieghts/Berlin Campaign would be pretty good as Currently Eastern front only have Stalingrad which is 42-43 so a late war one would be pretty epic!

It's alright from time to time but CoH2 is a lot better and that came out like a decade ago... no real innovation since then.

But its crazy how much this company milks it's players for money with overpriced DLC, and ingame store - (which came in the first update despite the game being buggy as hell!)

If you're looking for a real WW2 RTS, I highly recommend Gates of Hell. The amount of content in that package literally quadruples (or more) than what is in this.
