I got this in a Humble Bundle back in 2013. I just got all the Steam Achievements (10 years later) so I'd like to leave a nice review.

Super Hexagon, along with the awesome indie 140, are my two favorite indies of all time, and they are both brutal. Super Hexagon is definitely the brutallerest. I actually finished this game many times over when I played the DRM-free version I got from Humble Bundle back when it debuted. Years of not playing the game made me rusty when I decided to play it again recently.

Hexagon is very souls-like. You cannot die on any level. You have to play it over and over and over until you last 60 seconds to complete each of the 6 levels (there's actually 8 levels, only 6 are selectable - you have to work hard to see the other 2). The whole reason for playing this game is that Super Hexagon has an ending that you have to fight for. To finally finish this game is such a rush. The best feeling of playing any videogame.

If you love difficult games with legitimate achievements worth fighting for, this is one of them. I not only recommend this game for the curious gamers, I insist that you dive into this with both feet and play this relentlessly until you complete it. You will die over and over. You'll keep hearing 'Game over. Begin. Game over. Begin.' and the music will start to annoy you. The feeling you get when you reach the final level? Nothing compares to it! It's the ultimate Gamer's High. Do yourself a favor if you love difficult games. Get this. Play it till you win it. You will not regret it.

A little trivia I recalled from when I first got Super Hexagon in 2013. The game was created during a game jam, I think it was just called Hexagon (there was a website where you could play the original game from the game jam). A happy accident that grew into Super Hexagon. I was such a fan, I asked the developer Terry if he would continue to make similar games. He said he was working on different things, which I think Dicey Dungeons was the project. I've played all of his games and VVVVVV is another brutally fun game. But as of this writing, Super Hexagon I consider his best. Chipzel's music is also top-notch in this game, which if I remember, she created all of it on a Gameboy. Just as Atari's Tempest was an unexpected hit, I think sometimes the best games are not fully fleshed out the way AAA games are. This game just happened, and I am so glad to have been around when it debuted. I remember watching a video of creator Terry playing Super Hexagon on a big screen for an audience on a laptop and he was planning to disable collision detection just to finish the game for everyone, but he didn't turn that cheat on and he finished it legitimately. That was awesome. Then the leaderboards were filled with gamers from Korea who were so hellbent on beating the game that they dominated the scoreboards with insanely long playtimes and put up gameplay videos that boggled the mind. Super Hexagon was a big deal back then!

To explain the experience of this game in a nutshell. When you play it, you'll feel anxiety, a sense of rushing everything, moving fast... but when you play it over and over, you'll start to get into a zen state. Your eyes will relax, your breathing will slow, and you'll be calmly playing the HARDESTESTEST level like you're almost falling asleep. That's when you know you're about to beat the game. That zen feeling, you won't get in too many games. I think William's Robotron: 2084, the old arcade game, I got a feeling like this. As a gamer, you need to experience this state. Super Hexagon can take you there.

As a side note, I'm usually drinking beer while playing. I am usually extremely inebriated when I finish the game, so I can safely say that alcohol does NOT impair your judgement while playing. I don't think I've ever played this game while sober. So one hand on a beer while the other hand plays. Yes. This could be considered a true one-handed game.

Hey, just to let you know in Tomb Raider Remastered 1-3 collection with the "Modern Control" scheme, you can press one of the trigger buttons on your Xbox controller (Cant remember which one) when you swim up to a wall edge to mantle up and out of water. You shouldn't need to switch control schemes just to get out of water. You can also grab onto ledges after jumping with the "modern control scheme" the same way and then you can mantle up by moving up with the joystick I think. I hope that helps! :D (I saw your comment on the Tomb Raider Remastered page and thought to comment here cause I thought it would help you throughout your play through.) Have a wonderful day!!! :btd6thumbsup::waifuarisa::steamhappy:
