Seems like a large portion of user reviews are from performance issues on PC. Got the game Day 1, I think it stuttered like once on the first day I played it and it was fine from then on. I got a RTX 3070 and an i9 locked at 60 FPS so it's running great. Now onto the actual review, one of the most underrated studios in game strikes again. Really fantastic game, great gameplay, fantastic voice acting, and a decent storyline. I really just love the premise of the game and while it might not be as good as Prey or the first Dishonored, it's definitely up there in the discussion for Game of The Year. Please do yourself a favor and do Arkane a favor and buy this game, if it does end up stuttering, just return it and get it at a later date. But as for me, no problems whatsoever, and I'm on a pretty beefy machine. Now for the downsides, PVP is a little all over the place, like the machete is ******* OP like this ♥♥♥♥ will one hit you and can be used as a cheese meta as Julianna. Multiplayer is also pretty laggy when playing as Julianna joining a host server. Like it's a great premise, but not executed to the best of its ability. But like I said, really not all too laggy if playing as Colt and doing the main story, and it actually brings some challenge and skill to the already interesting level, as long as Julianna doesn't use her machete because I swear it turns into Star Wars with machetes at that point. Anyways, Arkane ya'll did it again, I'd give the game about an 8.5/10. Snapping necks never felt so good..........

R.I.P Rochard.... this game was definitely a hidden gem back in the day. Sad to hear the developer filed for bankruptcy, but thank you to all the devs for putting out this incredible game, even though this message is 10 years too late.. goodbye Recoil Games. F

Very janky controls, short length of gameplay, and bad usage of gameplay mechanics make this game terrible. Unless you are extremely inclined to love tarzan, then maybe pick it up on a sale. I got around 20 minutes of gameplay for the first issue while exploring the hub island a small amount. The game just seems incredibly unpolished and to be frank, it just isn't fun. I was hoping for something better after seeing how the devs treated their last game.. Primordian.. an incredible game. Spend your money on that game, not this..

A great mystery/detective VR game for any fans of the original game, L.A. Noire.

GRAPHICS

Graphics are rather good and are quite convincing for the most part. Although, still restrained by the facial engine that Rockstar used in the first mainline game, it still convinces the player that they are in 1940's Los Angeles. However, some of the facial animations are pretty rough, but for the most part, good job.
1.5/2

Music/Sound Effects

The music in this game is great, especially the sound effects and the radio in your car. I used to love this game when it first came out and it is still no exception, other than the fact that it only includes some of the cases from the original game. Anyways, very film-noire esque music (I know cheesy) but its true. Great sound effects and police sirens are right on the mark of being accurate.
1/2

Storyline/Bugs

Storyline in the original game is great, but is rather scattered here. This game doesn't have nearly as coherent of a storyline as the first game, but you can get the jist that you are a detective working on cases for the LAPD. However, the overarching storyline of the main game is missed due to the game only including some of the cases. What's especially odd is how the devs use the last case of the game, but don't set up the storyline for that mission like they did for the prior game. Still hoping for a L.A. Noire 2, but if this is the replacement, I'm fine with that. No major bugs were found in my playthrough.
1.5/2

Pacing

Pacing is odd for the first two or three cases of the game, as the game is doing it's best to get the player used to the vr mechanics. The first 2 or 3 cases are very short and serve as a main tutorial for the following cases, that are actually really impressively implemented in VR. Although, I wish that this game had all the cases, I can understand that the game had to sacrifice some of the cases due to it being a VR exclusive title.\
1.5/2

Gameplay/Length

The gameplay is standard Noire style, complete with car chase scenes, fist fights, mystery solving, interrogations, and riddles to be decoded. All very interesting things to do in VR, but I wished I could do the full game in VR, as the developers selected some rather odd cases from the game. Although, for the most part, the cases are really well designed and implemented in a very good style. Length is perfect and it took me about 9 hours to complete the game, which is really surprising, as it seems the developers made some of the cases feel longer in VR. I spent my other hour of the game driving around L.A. as the car mechanics in this game are surprisingly well implemented. Love this title, but I still wish for the full game to be ported to VR, especiallly if this game ended up to be a full price of 60 dollars when it came out.
2/2

FINAL VERDICT

This game is a great game and a fantastic detective game. Stepping into Cole Phelps's shoes (and others) is fun and impressive to see in VR. Although, like I said in the other segments, I wished for the other cases to be ported to VR, as I would gladly pay more for such a great title. Really did love this game when it first came out, although the graphics may seem slightly dated to some. I give this game a 7.5/10 (GOOD) and must warrant this game a VR-MUST PLAY for any fans of the detective/mystery genre or for any fans of the main game.

Yet another amazing entry in The Room franchise.......... that is sadly let down by its short run time.

To preface this review, I would definitely recommend you to buy the other Room games, as they are fantastic, but mostly for the story, as the story of the game somewhat concludes in this game, which I found very interesting.

GRAPHICS

Graphics in this game are very well done and the textures are very realistic. Special effects and ambient occlusion are also added for an added bonus to a PC that has extremely good graphics. For me, my settings were set at medium, but the game still looked absolutely fantastic. From location to location, the lighting in each area varied and were very unique.
2/2

Music/Sound Effects

As always, the central theme song of the game brings you back, the moment you start the game. However, other than that, there isn't much in terms of music. Though, that theme song really is good. Anyways, sound effects are absolutely brilliant and extremely satisfying. From opening boxes, locks, and hearing voices from the Null Void, everything is done very well.
1.5/2

Storyline/Bugs

In this game, the storyline actually comes to a conclusion for any fans of the series. The series's storyline is very cryptic, which is why I would definitely recommend you to play the other great games, before this one. If not for the short runtime of the game, the storyline would have been great, but it seemed like it reached its conclusion rather quickly. No bugs were found in my playthrough.
1.5/2

Pacing

Pacing is done well, but the game feels like it speeds up by the last two chapters of the game. To be frank, the last two chapters and somewhat, the first chapter, should not be counted as chapters. The first chapter introduces you to the game, storyline, tutorials, and all which is a standard affair for the room games. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th chapter are full chapters and where the game fully shines with all of its unique puzzles. Each of those rooms took me about an hour to complete. And finally, the last two chapters seem like cop-out chapters in which its basically a walking simulator with a few "light" and I mean "light" puzzles in the mix. If the game stuck to its pacing, like the first half of the game, it would definitely be worth its price, but sadly the last two chapters fail to impress. Although, the environments are very cool.
1/2

Gameplay/Length

Gameplay is absolutely fantastic and the puzzles truly shine as unique game mechanics. I especially liked how they introduced all the mechanics in the previous games for each level, and even introduce a new one, in the 4th chapter. This game was meant for VR and I mean it. All of the interactions in the game feel absolutely swell and truly make you feel like you are truly solving the Rube-Goldberg of puzzles. Length is my main complaint for the game. For then price, I paid a total of 30 dollars for a game that lasted me just under 3 and a half hours. This game should have been at least 6 hours at the least for a standard game. But because this game is the first "true" VR game for the developers, I will give them a slight pass. I just wish the game was longer, as the other Room games are cheaper, around 4-7 dollars, and last around 5-6 hours. Anyways, sorry for my little rant, but that's my main complaint for the game, along with some of the puzzles being slightly tedious, and that's a rarity.
1/2

FINAL VERDICT

For any VR owners that love puzzle games. Get this. For any VR owners that love The Room franchise and want to see how the story concludes. GET THIS NOW. I give this game a 7/10 (GOOD) and must say that it's a must have for puzzle fans.
