I'm still very early on in this game (just over an hour in), but playing it with a HTC Vive is incredible. This is pretty much the exact kind of game I want from VR. In one moment you can be exploring a small city on an alien planet with various NPC's wandering around, and the next you're hopping into a ship to take off and fight enemy pilots above the planet's surface.

It's definitely rough around the edges at the moment, but the ambition of this game is incredible and it delivers as a VR experience in every way. I realise it won't be for everyone, but I highly recommend it for fans of sci-fi, open-world RPGs. With adequate (not great, but certainly not poor) shooting / combat mechanics, it really makes for a compelling experience.

This game is entirely dependent on what the player thinks they should be getting out of it. For me, I love the vision and world-building in this game, and that is more than enough for me to continue enjoying it.

Too much focus has been put on how there are 18 quintillion planets to explore. But the truly remarkable thing about this game isn't the scale, it's how well the science-fiction vision has been realised.

I know this game isn't for everyone - it's not what I would call a gamer's game by any means. If you love Uncharted or linear, guided story-driven games, then this might not be for you unless you enjoy the setting as much as I do.

Travelling from one planet to another seamlessly is something I've wanted in a game for as long as I can remember and No Man's Sky delivers this perfectly.

I love it.

Extremely immersive (probably one of the most immersive titles I've played on the Vive so far). Ducking behind objects in this game as you reload your gun is like nothing else! I should also mention, it's very difficult in single player (I'm not a great player, but I'm struggling to get past level 2). I haven't tried multiplayer yet, but I think I'm going to have to try it in order to progress.

Superb, scary and frantic game which has much more depth than your average wave shooter.

This is a good space combat game with a small / large caveat. I say 'small / large' because the act of making this game enjoyable is actually very small but it makes such a huge difference. The game was supposedly designed with a gamepad in mind but it operates in a way that is completely odd if true. Re-mapping the controls is simple enough and makes the game about a billion times better. If you have a HOTAS, then better yet, but to be honest, even re-mapping the gamepad controls more to your liking improves the experience exponentially.

Once you have this issue out of the way, you'll find it is actually more polished than some of the reviews would lead you to believe. There is no doubt that the developer is committed to making this game as good as it can be, and from what I hear, it gets better with each update. I hope you can purchase with confidence with a good level of on-going support.

I recommend you give this game a try as it certainly has me intruiged and is a fair price for anyone who is a fan of space combat, especially since I'm sure it will only get much more content over the coming months!

Transparency: I received a free code for this game, but I was under no obligation to provide a positive review, and the opinions above are honest.
