Seems neat. Would like to try it out, especially when it is a free game. Too bad I can't get it to load pass the opening sequence. And when it gets to what I would assume is supposed the menu screen based on videos, I can only see a small portion of the screen. The little powdery footprint part in the top left. That is my whole screen.

Ultimately, I enjoyed my time playing this game. I had fun and I am glad I took the chance to do so. However, this review does focus primarily on the things I did not like. It fell short of the game that I was wanting to play in a lot of ways. I would rate it as probably a 6.8 or 7 out of 10. If you would like to read about why I was disappointed by the game, read below. It will have spoilers and I don't review a lot so be wary if it doesn't get spoiler tagged. Despite those things, I still do not regret playing the game or the fun I had doing so.

Strengths: Weaknesses:
Soundtrack Story/Plot Development
Art Character Design/Development
Game-play Baiting (I feel like they teased aspects of the game that simply aren't in it)
Low to Medium difficulty;
Can be played very casually

I truly enjoyed the game play, the sound, the art, the entirety of the world of Eastward. From the very start, it had me so ready to get wrapped up and immersed in the story it had to tell. Throughout the game I picked up on more and more of the story I couldn't wait to see how it all tied together. From as early as the opening scene and even the home page itself, but then it just... didn't. There are so many plot points this game offers in the way of good storytelling that it leaves with little to no coherency. Why is PotCrock Isle seemingly cut off from the rest of the world? Why is the cycle with Mother and Charon continuing? Why is Mother both explained as a counterpart to Charon as if she is the creator to Charon's destruction and yet also seemingly trying to destroy things and also commanding Charon? What is Charon? Why is the Miasma in the world? Who is Solomon? Why do we see him from three separate stages of his life? Why does he seem both connected to Mother in a since that he serves her and yet also in a since like he wants to oppose her and take her down? To be honest, I can't even particularly recall any reasoning given as to why Sam and Mother are connected. They just are. You wouldn't even know how John found Sam really if you didn't watch the opening scene before you've even started the game. I have many more questions that I won't bother trying to write down here, I just want to give somewhat of an idea as to these seemingly very KEY plot points that are left unanswered. And then the end of the game offers very little in the way of giving me any kind of satisfying end to the story. It left me feeling empty and incomplete. This hit me hard as the story as one of the main reasons I love these games and why I wanted to play this one.

Early Access Review
possibly one of the best party games i have ever played. i love getting together with my friends and playing this when we can. Never a dull moment. always exciting. always hyped. cant wait to see the future development of this game. the biggest thing it could need is a good, supported online gameplay with public and private parties. 10/10. I hope these guys that created "Crawl" get what they deserve. they need to go BIG for this.

Personally i love this game so far, tho i know as of right now if you look at my hours there isnt even 1 entire one in there, yet. i dont think there is anyways. Thats beside the point. Firstly, all of the gripers of pay to win, yeah just look at this and change it in your mind to, "Im a little kid who can't win so obviously this game is a pay to win piece of crap." That isnt true. I will grant it, the tutorial was kind of a piece of crap. I played my first game, didnt know what anything was really, lost. Second game, I learned from the first one what everything was, played (there is a keyword coming up here) STRATEGICALLY and won. Simple as that. Be smarter than your opponent. Yes you can pay with real money to get cards, but you get them just as easily by (what's our keyword of the day? YOu GOT IT) STRATEGICALLY winning games or by the in game money you get from winning to buy random cards. Matchmaking? Really was not bad for me at all. So, yes, i do highly approve this game and recommend it, IF you consider yourself a strategic person and would like to give it a try. It is fun, short, and easy to pick up. I feel as though im forgetting to mention something, but oh well 10/10 will be playing another round soon.
