Early Access Review
After finishing my first playthrough and starting another, I wanted to share my thoughts on the game, highlighting both strengths and weaknesses. It's also a first lengthy review I will post on steam - I do believe that the game has a huge potential and I love most of the things that are present in the game at the current stage. There are some issues that I will point out later in the review. I will also avoid going too much into details on the story, world and gameplay I consider discovering a lot of the things by yourself a huge part of those types of games.

First off, huge congratulations to the team. You’ve created something truly amazing. Generally speaking, I love the game, the music, the gameplay loop, and the story so far. It’s an excellent Early Access release with decent price to content ratio, even at the current stage. As the game is around 25 euros and I am pretty sure I will hit at least 20 to 30 hours of gameplay of the current release at this point. I would call that a reasonably priced access to the unfinished product.

Atmosphere

The atmosphere is phenomenal. The sheer scale of the levels makes me feel like an ant in this brutal, massive world. The setting is also strong, and perhaps my Polish background makes it even more immersive, but the alternate-history universe is excellently executed. There is some hidden lore here and there, but generally speaking - game leaves a lot to players imagination.

Gameplay

Gameplay should be somewhat familiar to people with some experience in the immersive sim genre. There are some elements from Thief, original Deus Ex and some other games. You can move boxes and hack the computers and all that jazz.

The game currently suffers from various bugs like for example: AI behavior, repetitive NPC dialogue, some quests breaking here and there and minor issues that will likely be fixed over time. Also dialogue options feel rather limited at the current stage. There is a fair amount of jank but due to the fact that we are not limited with saving the game for most of the game - if something breaks you can reload the game and it's usually fine afterwards.

Weapon selection is impressive but underwhelming in practice. The lack of noticeable differences in accuracy and damage, combined with enemies dropping from a single headshot most of the time, reduces the need for diverse weapon choices. Ammo scarcity and inventory management create some type of strategy as it forces us to have multiple weapons on us - each one with limited supply of bullets, but fights often feel too easy, especially with poor enemy AI.

I do not have any comments on the stealth approach to the game yet - my first playthrough was very much a guns blazing one. As the game also offers a stealth approach (staying in shadows mechanic, silenced weapons, invisibility / silent steps augmentations), this is something that I am going to test over my second playthrough of the current release.

Level Design

The large, spacious levels are both a strength and a weakness. They effectively establish scale and atmosphere, making traversal feel lengthy but unique. However, exploration lacks meaningful rewards. Small ammo caches or batteries are not enough. Hidden lore, worldbuilding elements, NPC interactions, or even environmental storytelling would add so much. The game’s visual design is fantastic, but the world sometimes feels too empty. The well-lit windows suggest life, yet there are few signs of it beyond that. I understand the technical and artistic reasons for limiting NPCs, but more environmental and audio cues, like for example public announcements, distant conversations, more city noises and other types of worldbuilding elements would surely make the world feel more alive without breaking the oppressive loneliness. But that's my perspective based on my preference in video games so I do not consider that as a negative, just pointing that out.

Sound design and music

The sounds and ambience are promising but badly mixed. Volume levels are inconsistent, with music sometimes being too loud or drowned out by ambient sounds. Enemy sounds also lack variety. They tend to repeat well too often. The game could also benefit from more environmental audio, as currently there is a lot of silence or we can hear a lot of repeating sounds over and over again.
Music-wise, I love the selection, especially as an ambient/breakcore fan. However, area-based tracks can feel awkward when they restart too frequently. A more dynamic system would help, but I understand that’s a really complex system to ask for in an small indie game.

Final Thoughts

Despite its current problems (It's an Early Access!), the game delivers an excellent experience and I had a lot of fun with it so far. At the end of the day it's a small passion project run by a handful of people.
I’m excited to see how it evolves and look forward to both future content and replaying in new ways.

I would strongly recommend the game to anyone with a soft spot for dystopian vibes and to anyone that likes to dabble in the immersive sim video games genre. There is quite a lot of jank. But it's great jank.

Fun game destroyed by boring fighting system and repetitiveness.
If you liked Yakuza 0 - you will like this one too. Story is still great, lots of funny side-stories, music is amazing, mini games are not that bad too.
Game looks and works nice. Performance is decent, visuals are really pretty.
Majima Everywhere is a fun concept that gets boring super quickly. You have to get into the same fights over and over again and click through same dialogue. It was cute and funny first couple of times, then it's just a drag.
Boss battles are epitome of boredom. It could be due to the fact I am just bad at this game and can't execute some combos properly, but that was not the case in Yakuza 0. You will get knocked down repeatedly and stunlocked into a combos that you can't really evade. Opponents will use attacks that you can't avoid so often that it gets really frustrating. So most of the boss battles are you pressing A repeatedly to get up and stuffing your face with sushi to get the HP back.
I really want to like this game same way I loved Yakuza 0, but it's just not the same with those boring and frustrating mechanics.

EDIT2:
Servers are working again. I could play matches without any problems.

Not bad, not bad at all! As a free title I would urge everybody interested in large scale FPS games to try it out.
After a long and very rocky journey, the game got finally released as F2P beta. It took a long time and decisions made along the way made many people very frustrated with the title, myself included, as I forgot about its existence for over 3 years.

What we finally got is a pretty decent FPS game that balances between arcade and realistic approach.
Animations are smooth, sounds are sharp and loud (especially airstrikes, as it should be), connectivity with the servers is still wonky but manageable.
The biggest problem for some people will be map design. Maps represent real places and are based very closely on real buildings and street layout, which makes this game a perfect place for people that prefer slow gameplay and to just wait for enemies from the safe heaven of their small window. Enemies often blend with the background and that will put plenty of people off. Traveling through open spaces in an armored vehicle is a way to go if we know there are some snipers lurking in the shadows.

Customization is still great, we can add many, many attachments to every gun and change the paint of each element, so there is a decent possibility to make our gun exactly the way we want, including personal touches. Shooting feels good, gun sounds are sharp, hip fire is very random so aiming down the sights is usually a way to go, and we can easily see how different attachments influence how the gun performs. Worth noting is the fact that suppression plays a big role here, so under heavy fire our accuracy will be impacted even more than it was (or is, not sure about that one) present in BF3.

Vehicles are fun, they are very dangerous in the skilled hands, but we get plenty of ways to defend ourselves with mines, RPGs (projectile speed is much faster than in BF series making an RPG much more deadly against vehicles as it's easier to hit your shots).

As currently it's a free game - I highly encourage everybody who is looking for that "proper Battlefield experience" to try it out.

Great storyline, great soundtrack, amazing and vibrant characters. Fighting mechanics are little clunky and most fights looks exactly the same (game likes to reuse animations VERY often) other than that, no complaints. Overally amazing experience with huge amounts of side-story content. Highly recommended.
