Some people will describe this game as realistic/simulation. It isn't.
In it's current state (keep that in mind) it is currently a graphic update of fight night champion but with worse gameplay.
Body shots are near to useless and there seems to be no punishment to standing in front of the guy and spamming hooks until he falls over. Lack of accelerated time in online leads to fights being decided within the first few rounds and then there either being 30 minutes of pain or you/your opponent just surrendering. Power punches are too slow and unless you are using somebody like deontay wilder being near on pointless. Movement isn't fluid or fast enough to make fighters like oleksandr usyk worth using as you will just get jabbed to pieces by anyone with a longer reach than you. Character models are really good especially the body types but the facial hair looks jarring and the body hair is just painted onto the textures which looks very jarring once you realise this. Main big positive though is that the movement that there is, is uncanny watching somebody like muhammad ali or tyson fury glide about in there relaxed stances.

tl;dr

fun game but by no means a simulation game. probably only as popular as it is due to lack of competition at this moment in time. Shows a lot of potential but would not recommend buying in it's current stage unless you are a boxing fan.
