Completed on Ubisoft Connect. I thoroughly enjoyed the exploration aspect of Assassin's Creed Mirage, particularly the world design. 9th-century Baghdad is a stunning and captivating setting. As always with the Assassin's Creed series, wandering through the world is an absolute pleasure. The integration of historical points is very interesting, and I found the codex to be a great companion in that regard, adding context and depth to the experience.

On the gameplay side, there’s a focus on investigation when planning your assassinations. On the hardest difficulty, which I recommend, stealth is crucial, and avoiding direct combat becomes key. The sneaky approach makes you feel less like a powerful warrior and more like a cunning thief, which suits the game’s tone really well. As you unlock perks, Basim becomes noticeably more adept at handling difficult situations, though combat remains a risky endeavor.

While some might call Mirage a return to the series’ roots, I see it more as a condensed version of Valhalla, but with a heavier emphasis on stealth and a more streamlined scope. This actually works to the game’s advantage, keeping things focused and tight.

Performance-wise, the game ran smoothly on my end with no bugs that I can recall. The only issue I faced was some noticeable chromatic aberration at launch, but thankfully, that’s now something you can turn off and NG+ has been added.

It’s always great to see Ubisoft bringing their games back to Steam. Mirage was a good experience, and I'm looking forward to future releases — especially if they launch on Steam at the same time as on other platforms.

/!\ Assassin's Creed Mirage is great on Steam Deck, maintaining a stable 45FPS on medium settings. However, there's a significant caveat here, since it requires Ubisoft Connect, you'll need a constant internet connection to play. Furthermore, whenever Ubisoft updates its launcher, it can temporarily break all Ubisoft games on Steam Deck until Proton gets patched. "GOLD" on ProtonDB.

Early Access Review
The Forever Winter is an early-access gem with a ton of potential. The game throws you into a beautifully bleak, war-torn world where you’re just a small figure in a massive conflict between towering AI war machines and warring factions. The art direction is absolutely stunning, immersing you in the chilling atmosphere of a post-apocalyptic landscape. You constantly feel outmatched by the enormous enemies and unpredictable encounters.

While the world-building is incredible, I do wish there were more ways to learn about the lore, like discovering documents or artifacts that delve deeper into the story of this devastated world. The survival aspect is very tough, with a solid mix of stealth and gunplay. That said, the game is still rough around the edges. I’ve experienced quite a few crashes, frequent disconnections in multiplayer, enemies passing through walls, and the controller support needs some refinement to feel smooth.

Despite these early technical issues, The Forever Winter has a bright future. The core gameplay and atmosphere are fantastic, and with more polish and, hopefully, better lore integration, this could become a must-play survival game.

/!\ Playable on Steam Deck, but it needs optimization, and the controller support requires more work. "SILVER" on ProtonDB

I have to admit, I was initially both skeptical and very intrigued by Black Myth: Wukong. The trailers, especially the stunning 2021 showcase for the Chinese New Year, certainly grabbed my attention. Now that it’s finally here—what a ride!

The combat system in Black Myth: Wukong is one of its standout features. It’s fluid, lightning-fast, incredibly responsive, and offers an impressive range of options. Whether you prefer quick dodges, precise parries, or unleashing a flurry of attacks, the system keeps you on your toes, and mastering it is highly rewarding. Progressing through the skill tree feels empowering, as each new ability unlocks more depth and variety in how you can approach battles. There's a real sense of growth as you master the mechanics and refine your playstyle.

Though it’s not an open-world game, Black Myth: Wukong more than makes up for that with its gorgeously crafted universe. Every environment is steeped in rich detail, drawing from Chinese folklore with an incredible level of care and precision. The world feels alive—thanks to stellar modeling and animation. The sheer visual spectacle is something to behold; you might even find yourself pausing mid-battle just to admire the scenery (before promptly getting smacked by an enemy, of course).

Now, onto the minor downsides: I was hoping for more exploration. The game feels a bit more linear than I anticipated, and I found myself wishing for more opportunities to venture off the beaten path. Additionally, the combat—while exhilarating—sometimes suffers from visual overload. Effects are so abundant that they can make battles a bit disorienting.

Despite these small criticisms, Black Myth: Wukong is an incredible triumph. The combat system is a joy to engage with, and the imaginative, vibrant world is captivating. Game Science has done a phenomenal job, and I can’t wait to see what comes next from this team!

/!\ "GOLD" on ProtonDB, playable, but quite heavy on Steam Deck. It runs better than I thought, but still barely hits 40FPS with several compromises. I wouldn't recommend playing it on the Steam Deck.

Early Access Review
For an early access game, Shapez 2 is impressively solid, not a single bug in sight! The game looks great, with a polished presentation and excellent ergonomics. Proceed with caution: all those endless loops of shapes and colors are dangerously addictive. Just 24 hours after release, and I've already racked up 14 hours of playtime! You have been warned.

Bleak Faith: Forsaken is a strikingly original and immersive adventure that stands out in the crowded field of Souls-likes. From the moment you step into its dark, violent, and unexplored landscape, you are drawn into an intense journey.

The originality of the game's universe is immediately apparent. It's captivating and mesmerizing, offering a lot of tension and a great sense of exploration. The world of Bleak Faith: Forsaken evokes the dystopian and twisted essence of Tsutomu Nihei's masterpiece "BLAME!". This influence is evident in the game's architectural design and atmosphere, which convey a sense of endless, enigmatic structures filled with hidden dangers.

Beyond its setup and great art direction, the interconnectivity of the level design is very rewarding, creating a cohesive world where every path leads to new discoveries.

The depth of the narrative is another strong point. The story unfolds gradually; it’s a minimalist narrative that doesn’t tell a linear story but invites you to piece it together through deduction, exploration, dialogue, and environmental storytelling, which greatly enhances the immersion.

Archangel Studios provides constant support for their game with impressive updates. However, there is still room for improvement: at times, the camera doesn't keep up during boss fights. The controls are a bit slippery, and combat feels a bit floaty. I also find that we experience some friction with the environment, especially in narrow spaces, where our character could instead slide against surfaces and continue moving smoothly.

Well worth the dive, Bleak Faith: Forsaken is a gigantic achievement by a very small team. A great game indeed! I'm very much looking forward to what comes next! I hope Archangel Studios will carry on with their vision. Kudos!

Not perfect, but one of my favorite games. Death Stranding is a profound and unique experience. Hideo Kojima's vision combines a thought-provoking narrative with deep and unique gameplay.
The world of Death Stranding is breathtakingly beautiful, with an immersive level of detail, inviting exploration and appreciation of its stunning vistas. The sound design is extraordinary, amplifying both tension and serenity with an expertly curated soundtrack and atmospheric audio cues.
While the game often delves into heavy themes, it can be hilarious at times, making the journey very engaging.
Death Stranding is a grand achievement in game design, combining stunning visuals, exceptional sound, and innovative mechanics to create a truly unforgettable experience.
A great game!

/!\ Death Stranding is a perfect fit for the Steam Deck, default settings and a 45 FPS cap. "GOLD" on ProtonDB.
