Enjoying what I've played so far. Very much like the setting, story and art direction. I think the graphics are beautiful. I didn't know I was buying a stealth game with puzzles, and I ordinarily don't like stealth or puzzles, but it's all very right for the story and there's nothing obtuse, it's just not all action.
My only gripe is it is VERY linear - you're basically on rails. For the most part you're following narrow paths in one direction and you can't backtrack. Stories need linearity, but there's very limited exploration and I'd like to spend more time just soaking in 14th C France.

Playing it because it's an important game in the same way I eat fish because you're supposed to. I want to play Half Life 2 but I'd be missing out if I skip this. The platforming sections are really frustrating - I didn't realise I was up for a TMNT on NES experience. Still satisfying to clear sections, although requiring saves every few seconds so I'm not stuck here forever.

All of the best bits of my favourite genre, the 16 bit era beat em up. The aesthetic is perfectly executed, the gameplay just rocks, and then there's the soundtrack... OMG. The scaling effect when enemies come from the backgrounds is such a cool touch.
In terms of difficulty it's definitely a co-op game - I can't get far on single player. Perhaps I wish it's a litttttttle bit easier just so I can enjoy the pixel art, the music and the action a bit more, and maybe see the ending one day. I wouldn't like to love a game this much and never be able to finish it.
As far as this retro genre goes I enjoy playing this more than SOR4 or Shredders Revenge (and I loved those). This will go down as one of my all time favourite beat em ups.
I'd say the only slight suggestion for the concept team would be that most iconic beat em ups have iconic characters with some over-the-top characteristics. Would be cool if playable characters were a little more memorable.

My eyeballs and earballs have yearned for this game since 1988. The graphics and environments are everything I've ever wanted and I'm besotted with the aesthetic and technoir sound track. For an old fan of action arcade games this is an 11 out of 10. Completely blown away. I showed it to a friend and he was equally gobsmacked by the pixel art and perfectly executed 80s action tropes.
This is a hard game like its progenitors, but more forgiving (by way of a checkpoint system) than the Contra series.
Strongly recommended to play as co-op with a friend. As a single player I did not get far, but got 5x as far with a friend. It would be cool if the game had an AI "friend" as my real ones are usually too busy or only do activies their whole family would like to join.
