The lore behind the name Space Cowboy is somewhat simple, it's a reference to Cowboy Bebop and the song Space Cowboy by Jamiroquai.
I was listening to the album Return of the Space Cowboy by Jamirquai while grinding eclipse 8 on commando which is a struggle. I managed to beat it while the song Space Cowboy was playing, so that's how the name came to fruition.

Ad hominem argument, the excuse of drawn adult content of underage characters doesn't hold up. So much adult media puts a reminder at the beginning that says "all characters portrayed are 18 years or older" but you probably haven't seen that disclaimer in any of the degenerate content you consume, because well, you like them young...
