Guide to all achievements in Middle Earth: Shadow of War. Here you can find all the simple, intermediate, and advanced achievements that there are in the newly released Shadow of War game. Simple Achievements

Better Luck Next Time - Meet an Enemy or a Follower who has cheated death.

Most likely, you'd get this one without even knowing you got it. Basically, you get the achievement when you meet with a captain who you either have killed him in the past and he's come back or you've hit a lethal attack on him and he "cheats" his last chance.

Avenged - Complete a Vendetta Mission.

The Vendetta Mission is a revenge mission that becomes available when a captain has killed you in the past. To complete a Vendetta Mission; get to the starting location, then successfully kill or dominate the captain.

Rule of Three - Unlock Three Gem Slots.

This is another rather straight forward one. Unlock the gem slot on 3 of your weapons. You can purchase these slots in the Inventory menu of the game.

Hostile Takeover - Defeat a Warchief.

Kill or Dominate a Warchief

Fit for War - Complete a challenge to upgrade a piece of gear.

You can find your active challenges in the Quest Menu (Z). You can also find them in your Inventory Menu.

Forger - Forge a higher-quality Gem by combining three Gems of the same quality.

You'll need three of the same Gem for this, access your gems in the inventory menu

Vandal - Destroy a Monument.

You can find Monuments on your Map (M). Destroy one to complete this achievement

Dismantled - Disable an Outpost.

Find an Outpost mission on your Map (M) or in your Quests menu (Z). Successfully complete the
mission after initiating it.

What Once Was Lost - Complete Act I.

Follow through with the storyline quests and don't get too sidetracked.

Speak Friend and Enter - Open one of the Ithlidin Doors

This Achievement speaks for itself. Open a door.

I Like to Watch - Watch a Follower Murder a Captain without helping him.

After you complete Act I and begin Act II, Dominate a captain and have him kill someone without
attacking the captain.

Bound by Blood - Complete an Online Vendetta

You can find these quite occasionally on the Map (M). Once initiating, successfully kill the target captain. Not sure if dominating works for this one yet. You gain spoils of war from any online related missions like this one

Conquer the Fortress of Nurnen

Best Defense - Equip 3 Siege Upgrades on an Assault Team

Equip Three Siege Upgrades, you can access your siege upgrades on your assault team and their siege upgrades my pressing [LSHIFT] while in the Army Menu.

Intermediate Achievements

Nemesis - Encounter the same Orc 3 times in nemesis missions without killing him.

This one can be a pain, but for me I'd actually gotten it accidentally. was up against a legendary and his power level was too high, so id shamed him 3 times to get him down low enough. Which, counts as not killing him. Dominating does count though, so don't be doing that.

Headhunter - Recruit a Follower of every Advanced Class.

If you plan on not spending money to purchase War Loot Chests which gets you followers, then this one can be a pain. There isn't a tracker for this one either so you'd actually have to know which classes you've already gotten and which ones you haven't yet gotten. If you do plan on spending then this should be fairly easy, open like 10 or so gold chests and you'd be set most likely. Although all followers are generated randomly so don't take my word for that. Here's a list of the Classes if you're actually trying to collect them all without chests:

- Assassin
- Beastmaster
- Berserker
- Commander
- Destroyer
- Marksman
- Tank
- Tracker
- Trickster
- Slayer

Promise Keeper - Issue a Death Threat, and then successfully kill the Target.

For this one you actually have to kill him, you cannot dominate. to issue a death threat dominate an intel orc and instead of gaining intel choose the deaththreat option.

Power Couple - Send a Follower to support another Follower in a Nemesis Mission.

Straight Forward one, go to your army and then command a follower who doesnt already have an active mission to help ambush the already existing Nemesis Mission.

Feed the Beasts - Attract every kind of beast using bait

Shoot all the baits, attract all the beasts. 5 in total. (All Credit to Jynn for these pictures)

- Graug
- Caragor
- Drake
- Ghul
- Spiders

The Operative - Turn all of a Warchief's bodyguards (minimum 2) into spies, then confront him.

Get every bodyguard of a warchief under your command, then begin the Betrayal Nemesis Mission.

Follower Perks - Use a training order to give a follower a gang.

You can get gang training orders from the market, no other way though.

Purge - Purify all the Haedir

The Haedir are the towers that you have to purify. Although, don't just do them for the achievement. its good to do them all because you can fast travel to them once purified, which saves a lot of time to get to certain missions.

Advanced Achievements

Brought to Heel - Defeat Helm Hammerhand

Helm Hammerhand is one of the Nazgul you meet near the beginning of the game. Although, you only fight him many many hours after reaching Act II (I was at 32 hrs). You meet him in Seregost where he first tries to take over your fortress stationed there and then you fight him again not long later where you are to defeat him. Although, it isn't very hard to defeat him (Just make sure you counter his attacks and roll on the ground a lot), I've placed this achievement in the Advanced section because this is pretty far into the game.

It Came From Within - Start a Conquest with all warchiefs as spies.

I've posted a screenshot of when I did it prior to capturing the fortress in Gorgoroth, this one takes time, although, the easiest way to do it is to use dominated Captains to betray their Warchief in the Betrayal Nemesis Mission. If you're just entering a region here would be what you'd want to do to take control of the fortress and also get this achievement done; Dominate a few random Captains that ambush you or you pass by, make all the dominated captains spies, and try to dominate each Captain Bodyguard of a given warchief, if you accidentally kill one of the bodyguards, it should be alright because you only need two dominated captains in order to initiate a Betrayal Nemesis Mission. The Betrayal Nemesis Missions are generally pretty easy. There won't be many grunt orcs you'd have to worry about and in the worse situation it would still be You, two of your dominated Captains versus the Warchief. When you break the Warchief, you can dominated or try and finish him off, doesn't really affect much. Repeat this with each Warchief and if you're sufficient enough, I'd say you could get all warchiefs dominated in about 2 hrs of gameplay. Also, you have to initiate the siege on the fortress before you get the achievement.

Second Age Warrior - Complete all Shadow of the Past missions in one region.

You can find the Shadow of the Past available missions in the Quests (Z) menu. Although, I would recommend not to go for this achievement if you're more into progressing. These are side missions that don't help progress in the game. This is in the Advanced Achievements Section because some of the Shadow of the Past missions can be quite a task and it is quite a long grind to get this achievement.

The Stuff of Legend - Equip a full Legendary Gear set.

You can access your gear in the Inventory Menu, this is a fairly easy mission if you purchase a large amount of Loot Chests from the Market. But if you were to grind for all these it can take some time.

No Orc Left Behind - Rescue a Follower who has been Captured.

This one is quite an interesting one. Followers don't get captured very often so you won't be seeing many of these (so far I've only had one), and when you do get it and you begin the mission, if you don't get to your orc in a matter of a few moments your follower will die, which can be quite hard because there will be a captain guarding the orc and many many grunts.

Forged By War - Unlock all player's skills

This one just takes long, you need a lot of skill points. If you want to go straight for it don't purchase the skill buffs and just go straight for all the main skills (some are pretty useless so I don't recommend this method).

The Web Unrevealed - Uncover the final Shelob memory and reveal the Web of Fate

Although this is another one of the grind achievements it's definitely worth going for, one of the strongest skills in the game is the the Cluster of Spiders skill. This changes [2] from calling reinforcements to calling a cluster of spiders who come and poison all and any nearby orcs, this can reveal weakness and severly damage captains, warchiefs and even overlords (depending on their nemesis system).

Master Forger - Forge a top tier Gem.

Forge the highest tier gem, this one is a lot of grind, and I mean a lot. One of the achievements you say "Yea, no I'm not doing that rn", but you'll get it eventually without even going for it. Online Conquest is a great way to farm for strong gems and get this achievement done.

Overkill - Send a Follower to kill another Follower in a Pit Fight.

This is a very easy one to do, it's in the advanced section only because many players have come to me and telling me they are struggling with how exactly you initiate the fight. The mistake players make is they go to the actual Pit Fight - Maggots or Pit Fight - Warriors Mission area and don't understand why they can only choose one of their followers to be up against a random captain. All you need to do for this one is go to your Army Menu and Command a Follower to fight another Follower (Choose Wisely though, only one of your Followers will come out alive). This will initiate a Pit Fight between the two chosen Followers and you will have to go to the specified location on the Map (M).

Finished Tables - Collect all Gondorian Artifacts

Again, another grind one that is completely to the side. if you don't know where to find them go to your Map (M) or to your Quests Menu (Z) and you can locate them all.

Vertical Mobility - Help a grunt become an Overlord

Quite a straight forward achievement but it will take a lot of time and work. You would have to let a Grunt kill you, once it does the grunt orc will be promoted to a captain, there are a couple methods to go from here depending on if your current state in the game. If you are in a region where you already control the fortress it's relatively simple as you can just dominate the grunt orc who killed you and became a Captain and switch places with your current Overlord. Once you get the Achievement feel free to move your original Overlord or any other dominated captain to the Overlord position. If you are in a region where you do not control the fortress stationed in the Region things may get quite interesting. You can do what I had done; let that captain kill me a total of 9 times, he became a legendary got crazy new strengths and worked his own way to the top (you really would only need 4 or 5 times but I was having some fun ^^).

Everything is Permitted - Shame an Assassin until he becomes deranged.

Find an orc captain who is of the class of Assassin and that you do not control, locate him and fight him until he becomes broken, dominate him but do not recruit or kill instead shame him, repeat until the orc can no longer speak and just mumbles out weird sounds. When he can no longer speak, he is considered deranged and you will receive the achievement (When i shamed a legendary orc 3 times to get the Nemesis Achievement the legendary orc became deranged, it was quite scary. Trust me you'll know when he becomes deranged ^^).

Life of the Party - Send a Destroyer on a Vendetta Mission.

Have a Captain kill you a couple of times (sometimes you only need him to kill you once) and then when the Vendetta Mission to gain revenge on him pops up on your Map (M) Send a Destroyer Class Orc Follower on the mission. Pretty Straight Forward, this achievement is only in the advanced achievements section of this guide because some people have come to me not understanding what a Destroyer is.

Bad Boss - Strike a Follower until he's had enough

Just find one of your Captain Followers then beat and whack him around a bunch, you'll know you're on the right track when the captain is yelling at you and saying the most obnoxiously funny things that orcs tend to say in this game (MANSWINE).

Death is not the End - Ressurect a Follower Captain.

You have to play for long enough on the storyline to gain the skill to resurrect captains. This is quite a "down-the-road" achievement so I wouldn't worry about this one if you're still kind of new to the game. Once you gain the skill (You'll know when you do, a message pops up and teaches you how to use your newly gained skill), simply go to your Army Menu and click on a recently dead Follower Captain whos body is lying on the army menu tile space where he was before he died. This has been known to be an achievement to have a few issues so don't worry about it if you can't do it. The devs will get to it in time.

Blood on Blood - Make a Captain kill his bloodbrother.

This one is quite difficult, one of the more challenging achievements of the game for sure. Easiest way I can think of is to have a follower who in his strengths tab has a Blood Brother, with intel find out who his Blood Brother is. if the blood brother hasn't yet been dominated send your follower to initiate Killing his brother. If you have already dominated the Blood Brother. No worries, just send them into a pit fight and it doesn't matter who wins, you still get the achievement ^^, It's hard because many orcs don't have blood brothers and it can be very time defficient to have to track down an orc who has a blood brother, track down the blood brother and hope for your orc(s) to not be fed up and betray you because you're making them, who are blood brothers fight each other.

Rough Rider - Ride every type of beast and rare beast.

There are 7 total beasts and rare beasts. This one can be quite a challenge, because although it's easy to ride on caragors, graugs, drakes, and even dire caragors because they are quite common. Ice Graugs, Fire Graugs and Poison Graugs are a lot less common. But here's a list with pictures so you can identify between the beasties. ^^ (All credit to Jynn for these pictures)

If you're wondering well alright thanks for the info bud, but where do I go with this information? Well, for the Rare Graugs; The Poison Graug can only be found in Nurnen, Right near the center of the map is a large forest filled with Caragors, Ghuls, and the quest where you fight Mother Earth wannabe and her forms. In here you can find a poison graug, now obviously you're not just going to stumble upon one at first glance. Try advancing time and going back if you don't succeed this goes for the other graugs too. The Ice Graug can only be found in the snowy mountainrange of Seregost. You can find these graugs lurking about mischieviously near frozen lakes and such, when you are battling Helm Hammerhead in Seregost he does spawn a few Ice graugs but riding them don't count unfortunately :/ The Fire Graug can only be found in the burning wasteland of Gorgoroth. There's word about a cave somewhere where he can be found. I'm actually not too sure about this one. Only one I do not already have. Sorry lads. No Orc Lives Forever - Win all Fight Pit mission.

Complete Fight Pit - Champions in all four regions, you'll have to first take control of each region before you can begin this, and to Fight Pit - Champions in Gorgoroth will face your orcs up against orcs up to 50 + levels so be wary.

If You Can't Beat Them - Dominate an Orc after he's killed you three or more times.

Very straightforward but yet very hard as well. If you're wondering why; Well, after an orc has killed you three or more times he becomes pretty darn strong. Better to do it in a region where you already control the fortress or he'll start causing issues.

Such Great Heights - Reach the Captain Rank in Online Conquest.

One of the longest, hardest and most annoying achievements. You've got to beat quite a handful of fortresses, and when you lose or someone else beats your fortress your score which determines your rank in online conquest drops. This is a hard one :/

Wild Things - Kill a drake while riding a Graug

This one is actually one of the easier ones, you don't really do much. Have you killed a drake before? I'm hoping the answer to that is 'yes' because otherwise idk what you're doing in this part of the guide lol. Basically kill a drake (which means many many arrows), but on a graug. To get on a graug damage it and when it becomes broken shadow mount it. This is in the Advanced Achievements Section because well it's pretty rare that you find Graugs nearby Drakes. I'd reckon that the best way to do this is to run a siege on a fortress that has a defending graug, make sure that in your attacking team you have a friendly drake. Then deal damage to the graug until it breaks, mount it, then shoot your own drake down. Why do I say have the enemy graug on the other side and the drake on your side? well it tends to be easier to kill a drake when its not directly the living crap out of you ^^. So make sure you dont run out of arrows, it's best to have a bow that is strong and capable of firing many arrows (10+ should be good).

Trolling - Kill a Captain while riding an Olog

This is the one, the very last and the absolute worst. This is the very achievement that is absolutely KRAZY! But here; (All credit to Maka91 for how to get this achievement)

You will need an enemy Olog captain in the army menu with the Gang of Ologs in their Bonuses tab. You can use a worm to find intel on captains, or shun an Olog captain follower to turn them against you. You can even use loot box cards to summon the follower you need if necessary.

Now, you'll want to mark the Olog and find them in the game. Approach him or enter the mission and check to see if he has his gang of Ologs nearby. Even with this bonus, it is not guaranteed. If there is a nearby Olog, you can begin.

The goal here is to get the Olog Captain to almost no health without killing them. You'll need to have them under 5%, but the lower the better. Once the captain is low on health, get close to an Olog, headshot them with an Elf-Shot to daze them and immediately mount them. Once on top, ride the Olog and steer him into the captain while shanking him. If done correctly, the mounted Olog will do enough damage to kill the captain, gaining the achievement.

If you fail to kill him and there are no remaining Ologs or yo're scared that something else might kill him, dominate him and shame him to save him for later and also bring his level down making your next attempt even easier. Repeat until necessary.

I don't know if someone mentioned it before but :
Vertical Mobility - Help a grunt become an Overlord

Can be done in a couple of minutes. If you have a fortress under your control, get killed by a no name orc. He will become Captain. Find that orc and dominate him. Recruit him, then switch position with the Overlord in the Army menu and you're done. The achievement will pop as soon as you switch the orcs.

If you want to suffer and not get any progress in life just do the online conquest acheivements, once you get high enouhg in the ranks most of the fortresses are just hacked orcs which are hard as fuck to get unless you have some of your own, so basically just use cheat engine

the easiest way to get vertical mobility is to just die to a grunt while defending a fortress, that grunt will instantly become overlord when the fort is taken

About "Rough Rider" and Poison Graug. He is quite easy to find but not in the center of the map in Nurnen. He is in the same cave what Ithlidin Door. You just have to leave your cave castle (but be still in the cave) and you will see graug marker on the minimap.
