How to be a slav pro-player
By Vergil
THE GAME IS IN ITS BETA STAGE AND THIS GUIDE IS ABOUT THE CURRENT SLAVIC GAMEPLAY, SO DON'T TAKE THIS OR ANY OTHER GUIDE YOU SEE AS THE FINAL SETUP FOR THE GAME.

...............................

Opponents

Slavs x Germans: Once the match start, the first thing you're gonna need to win is pressing esc and choosing a decent faction to play with. You won't win the match, but you won't waste your time either, which translates itself as a personal victory.

Slavs x Saxons: You will dominate saxons.... until they build barracks and start outnumbering you, plus every saxon unit can x1 every unit of yours, they eat a lot less and they aren't insanely expensive for their (poor?) performance as your slavic units are. Yours eat a lot of food and drink a lot of iron for their poor performance in battle.

Spank their slingers as you wish during early game. Once saxons build barracks, you're gonna press esc, quit the game and choose a decent faction to play with.

Slavs x Vikings: Shield warband are counters to the vikings spear raiders, but they can barely fight against 2 spear raiders at once and vikings can use defensive circle to destroy as many shield warbands as you send against that spearmen squad.... Meanwhile a single germanic cleaver can wipe your entire army of shield warbands and the only skill your shield warband have against them is running faster, which drops your defense and hit rating lol. Trash skill for a trash unit. So you're gonna need to fight for food spots (big ones by preference) and resist the powerful vikings rushes during early and mid game.

So you managed to repel spear raiders and was smart enough to use defensive stance to battle against them. If you're fighting a n00b player, he'll keep creating spear raiders while you dominate him and gradually win the match, but if he start training bersekers and scouts, then you're gonna press esc, quit the game and choose a decent faction to play with.

-But what about my spearmen?

LOL they're pretty much the same as vikings spear raiders, but they cost the double of wood + a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of ore and their veterancy costs 100 wood and 50 ore to make them slightly better than vikings spear raiders. If you manage to get a spearmen squad and that veterancy, you are probably struggling to keep this spear + shield warband while the enemy viking is dominating the map.

Slavs x Slavs: The match here is decided between who can train more archers or mounted archers to kite the opponent away, except that the mounted archers have the risk of getting wiped out by traps they can't see. Just like Vikings, go for the food spots and try to harass your opponent's food spots and he'll either struggle against your 5 squads army with 2 starving squads or he'll "go full lv1" and train 10 shield warbands to send his starving army to fight your archers. It'll be a funny scene when they slowly charge against your mounted archers :P

If things are harsh, but you managed to get to the tier III, then try to endure at your base while you sneak one or two catapults close to his base and toss some rocks at that ♥♥♥♥. He'll run straight to his base to see wtf is happening while you take some bases with your mounted archers or spearmen (in case you don't have good map awareness and the enemy isn't making horses, then stick to the worst unit from the game, it's a fitting punishment for being so distracted).

After some tossed rocks, he might find your hidden catapults and kill its operators, but the trick here isn't attacking his base, but his mind. He'll feel like quitting the game after watching 2 key buildings getting destroyed + a few houses. If he doesn't quit, then he'll play like ♥♥♥♥ because your opponent is demotivated, but he's 94% likely going to quit the match once you send a few squads to torch what's remaining at his base.

To make sure he's going to quit the match, send 2 or more spearmen squads and use the few ore you have in your inventory to buy armor for one of them, I'm sure that your opponent is going to feel ♥♥♥♥ and quit, then never play as slav again.

Overview of the slavic units
-------------

-Shield warband: Useless trash, they can only win x1 against catapults operators, ballistas operators, saxons archers and slingers, anyone else than those previously mentioned units will ultimately obliterate those guys lol

They cost 50 wood, 10 ore and eat 15 food per minute... Their veterancy costs 100 iron and 50 ore to make them resist one more second in battle lol.

They cost the same as germanic cleavers, but they can't do 1/4 of what cleavers can do... Cleavers can fear you away and greatly lower your defense while shield warband can raise their shields to make them vulnerable against melee enemies and run like ♥♥♥♥♥♥, which makes them even more vulnerable against melee attacks. At least they get resistant against ranged attacks, but if your enemy doesn't have ranged unit, then you're screwed lol.

Spear warband: 100 wood + 20 ore + 15 food per minute and their veterancy costs the same as shield warband vet. They're literally the same unit as viking spearmen, but they cost the double the wood + 20 ore, you're gonna have a hard time if you are only able to rely on them, you are going to lose the match because you'll quickly run out of resources.

Mounted archers: They cost 50 wood + 10 ore + 15 food per minute.

They're giant mosquitoes, they're there, annoyingly poking you, but that's it. They'll remain themselves as giant mosquitoes if you survive until you get the tier 3 and miraculously buy the composite bows update + the 3 bow updates in the blacksmith, which will be behind a HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE paywall. After buying ALL the 3 bow updates, they become a really good unit, but you are probably going to lose the match before reaching this stage of the game anyway, so ♥♥♥♥ them.

Spear riders: They cost 100 wood + 10 ore + 15 food per minute.

They're a squad of knights from the horse focused faction, but their cavalry are the weakest from the entire game, they're weaker than 2 single scouts and performs infinitely worse than german cavs. They're good against shieldmen, but all the other factions can easily create spearmen and end your impaler knight roleplay, unless your oponent is slav ofc.

Archers: They cost 75 wood + 30 ore + 15 food per minute.

These archers are useless unless you buy their composite bows update, which costs 100 wood and 50 ore. It's insanely expensive, but you are going to have the strongest ranged unit in the game, dismiss all your units and spam those archers so you're gonna have a small chance of winning the match against other factions.

Catapults: They cost 100 wood and 10 ore

This is your chance of cowardly winning any match... well, this is your only chance of winning a match. If you can sneak one of those closely to your enemy base and use 2 or 3 squads to guard it against incoming squads, then you can use its blind fire to cause havoc at the enemy base and win the match by either destroying the enemy key buildings or leaving them in utter disadvantage by forcing them to spend all their wood on repairs....

...but you're probably going to lose the game before you can build one, it's behind a huge techwall, so forget about winning like this with slavs unless your opponent is n00b lol.
