As for Kaido, his entire "Thousand Beasts" pirate crew relied heavily on the artificial "S.M.I.L.E." Devil Fruits sold by Doflamingo's Donquixote Pirates. While arguments could be made for other characters being more or less important to Kaido than Doflamingo, or that Kaido's fate started to be sealed as far back as Punk Hazard, it was only thanks to the Donquixote Pirates that Kaido had the luxury to gain his full strength within the borders of Wano.
